Longest television interview set Guinness World Record by Mr Shadbolt

Longest television interview set Guinness World Record by Mr Shadbolt

Pineapple juice was the saviour of Invercargill Mayor Tim Shadbolt's world-record-breaking television interview at the weekend after his mammoth speaking effort was nearly derailed in the first three hours.

Mr Shadbolt broke the Guinness World Record for the longest television interview, with his time of 26 hours and 04 seconds smashing the old mark of 12hrs and 30s set by Pedro Ruiz in Spain in 2009.

Mr Shadbolt, a renowned comedian and story teller who is a regular on the public speaking circuit, was interviewed by Cue TVs Tom Conroy at the SIT CentreStage Theatre for the record-breaking attempt.

He was still going strong at the end, with Mr Shadbolt halfway through yet another story when Mr Conroy stopped him mid-sentence.

"You are out of time," he said.

However, the record-breaking effort was not all plain sailing.

Guinness Book of World Records official Chris Sheedy said it appeared to be in doubt when Mr Conroy started losing his voice in the first three hours.

"But then they started drinking pineapple juice, it's an old opera singer's trick, and from that moment they didn't pause."

Mr Shadbolt covered many topics during the 26-hour interview and remained animated and jovial throughout, though he looked exhausted at the end.

He also surpassed the record for the longest one-on-one interview on any medium, which was 24 hours, and broke the record for New Zealand's longest broadcast, formerly held by television fundraising programme Telethon.

Mr Sheedy, speaking to the more than 100 people who witnessed the last throes of the record-breaking interview, said he hadn't expected the event to be as entertaining as it was.

The event was a fundraiser for St John, with $10,000 raised shortly before the interview finished. Mr Shadbolt was allowed a five-minute break after every completed hour, but when he finished he still had 18 minutes of breaks up his sleeve.

The Tree Man of Java - Human Treeman Dede Koswara Pictures

The Tree Man of Java - Human Treeman Dede Koswara Pictures

Dede Koswara is a 35 year old fisherman in Indonesia. As a teenager, he cut his knee, and ever since then strange growths have covered his body. The growths on his hands and feet look especially like tree roots, and the large patches on his skin resemble the bark of a tree. As such, he’s simply called Tree Man.

Dede is thought to suffer from a tongue-twister of a disease known as Epidermodysplasia verruciformis. What this means is that he has an abnormal susceptibility to human pappilomaviruses. Human pappilomaviruses (HPVs) are extremely easy to contract, and it has been suggested that up to 80% of people may be infected, though they show no symptoms. There are around 200 known types of HPV, but the majority have no noticeable affect. In rare instances, it can lead to certain forms of cancer, but the most common result of an HPV infection is your simple, everyday wart.

Because of Dede’s body’s inability to stop the development of these growths on his skin, they have simply become larger and larger over time. The hands and feet are especially vulnerable to HPV, and as such his “roots” have grown especially large there.

For 20 years, the case has baffled doctors. While scientists understand the cause of his problem, nobody has been able to truly cure it yet. In 2007, Dede made international news when he hit the Internet and was featured in “My Shocking Story” on the Discovery Channel and TLC. (This show is “Extraordinary People” in the United Kingdom.) Later, in 2008, he was the subject of an episode of the popular program “Medical Mystery” as well.

Assam set Guinness World Records for planted 40,885 saplings within an hour

In a bid to enter the Guinness World Records, 100 people Sunday planted 40,885 saplings within an hour near the Chirang Reserve Forest in lower Assam.

They wanted to break the record of 26,422 saplings planted in an hour in a Northern Ireland park two years ago.

Assam`s Guinness bid: 40,885 saplings planted in an hour
Between 11 am and 12 noon, 100 men from the state's forest department, Dogra Regiment and 135 Ecological Battalion (Territorial Army) planted the saplings on the banks of the Saralbhanga river.

The event was video-graphed in the presence of three independent observers and the footage would now be sent to Guinness World Records, said C. Ramesh Kumar, divisional forest officer of Haltugaon Forest Division under the Chirang Reserve Forest.

"We have contacted the Guinness authorities for recording the event. However, as per their norms, they advised us to engage independent observers from the area. We appointed three persons, including former Kokrajhar Kendriya Vidyalaya principal of B. Lal and former Kokrajhar DIET principal C. Brahma," Kumar told IANS.

"Our objective is not just to establish a record. Our motto is 'plant a tree, save a life'. We want to highlight the loss of trees in our area and impress upon the civil society to do its duty to save the forests," he said.

Assam`s Guinness bid: 40,885 saplings planted in an hour
The men carried out several rehearsals at the Dogra Regiment base in Kokrajhar to successfully complete the task, he said.

"We are hopeful of breaking Northern Ireland's record. The men targeted to plant 50,000 saplings but only 40,855 could planted be within the stipulated time," Brahma, one of independent observers, said.

"We are going to send the video for verification and hope they (Guinness authorities) declare the decision in one month," said Kumar.

In 2010, 100 men from the Ireland-Western Health and Social Care Trust One had planted 26,422 trees in an hour at the Gransha Park.

World’s thinnest smartphone 2012 - Huawei Ascend P1 S Smartphone

World’s thinnest smartphone 2012 - Huawei Ascend P1 S Smartphone

When many of today’s smartphones resemble each other in terms of design, and, to some extent, in terms of hardware and software, manufacturers clearly need some touches of originality here and there, just to differentiate their products. That’s why some phone makers are battling it out for the titles of “world’s most powerful”, “world’s thinnest”, or “world’s lightest” device. However, things change so quickly in the mobile business, that the average user risks getting even more confused when choosing a device based on these self-styled titles.
World’s thinnest smartphone, World’s thinnest smartphone 2012, Huawei Ascend P1 S Smartphone, Huawei Ascend P1 S picture, Huawei Ascend P1 S photo, world’s lightest smartphone 2012, world’s lightest mobilephone, World’s thinnest cellphone price, lightest smartphone in the world

                                                    World’s thinnest smartphone picture

Case in point: just a few months back, when Huawei unveiled the Ascend P1 S, the device was dubbed the world thinnest smartphone. But before Huawei’s device even hit the market, another “player” came along, challenging the respective title.

Yesterday, China-based Oppo has “slipped” a photo to Engadget China, supposedly showing the phone maker’s upcoming Android-based smartphone. Measuring an incredibly thin 6.65 mm (0.26 inches), this still unnamed device is set to be 1 mm (or 0,039 inch) thinner than the Huawei Ascend P1 S.
                                                     World’s lightest smartphone picture

That should make a huge difference to any smartphone lover out there (insert ironic grin here), which is why this upcoming Oppo device should be watched out for by all the important players in today’s technology market (or not).

Irony aside, we must say that, while we can’t make much of that leaked photo from Engadget, the smartphone looks pretty stylish and elegant. Some might say that it closely resembles the iPhone 4/4S. But hey, we’re talking about an unknown manufacturer from China, and making gadgets very similar to Apple’s iDevices is kind of their thing, isn’t it?

The Oppo device will supposedly hit the local Chinese market in September. There are no hardware details known about this future smartphone for now, while on the software front we only know that the device will run Android. We can also guess from the leaked pic that Oppo’s future gadget will come with an optional dock of some sorts and that the touchscreen will house three capacitive Android navigation keys.

What do you guys think? Will you be looking for this new challenger to the title of the world’s thinnest smartphone? Or has this quest for shaving off another 0.0000000001 inch become plain boring?

Wasik Farhan Roopkotha - World's youngest computer expert in Bangladesh

Wasik Farhan-Roopkotha - World's youngest computer expert in Bangladesh

A six-year-old boy from Bangladesh is hoping to become the world's youngest computer expert after becoming obsessed with his mother's PC at the age of two.

Wasik Farhan-Roopkotha, who turned six in January, is hoping his skills will be recognised by Microsoft and Guinness World Records.

As a toddler, Wasik started to show an aptitude for computers and before long he had mastered several popular video games, including Modern Warfare and Metal Gear Solid.

He began typing in Microsoft Word as a three year-old and knew how to programme and download game emulators at the age of four.

His mother Cynthia Farhan-Risha said: "I knew he was very different since his birth. I couldn't believe my eyes when he began computing when he was just seven months old.

"Wasik started to play and master many complicated games and started installing them just after he turned two and also started typing in MS Word from around the same time."

By the time he was of school age, Wasik was not integrating at his local primary and so his parents decided it was best for him to be taught at home.

According to his mum, Wasik's English is still fairly limited. But he did have a few words to say in Bengali.

"I really enjoy playing on the computer and learning new skills," he told the BBC.

"My ambition is to be a computer expert and to work for a big computer firm in the future."

Wasik Farhan Roopkotha - who comes across as a very quiet young boy - has now been working with computers for more than four years, but he still enjoys mixing with other children of his age, playing football and listening to music.

Jishou Chadong expressway - World’s highest and longest suspension bridge in China

At 1,102 feet up and 3,858 feet across, the ambitious suspension bridge in China's Hunan province has become the highest and longest in the world.

The Anzhaite Long-span Suspension Bridge in Jishou was officially opened to motorists Tuesday,

Work on the engineering feat started in October 2007 and the bulk of the work finished at the end of last year.

Drivers can take in the views of the Dehang Canyon as they steer their way across all 3,858 feet of the new sky-high road which links two tunnels.

The bridge, which is lit up at night with 1,888 lights, is the fourth suspension bridge to cross a valley so wide it seems to be connecting two mountain ranges, the Mail said.

Once on the bridge cars and lorries can motor along a two-way, four-lane motorway at about 50 mph. Pedestrians can also walk along it on a special walkway under the road.

The bridge is a key part of the Jishou-Chadong Expressway, a 64-km road which has 18 different tunnels that cover about half of its length.

It is hoped the bridge will help ease traffic jams which are common in the mountainous area which has narrow, steep and winding roads.

Belfast's Giant Titanic - Largest Titanic visitor attraction in the world

Belfast's giant Titanic - Largest Titanic visitor attraction in the world

The largest Titanic visitor attraction in the world opened in the ship's Belfast birthplace on Saturday, some 100 years after the doomed liner was built in the same yards.

Almost 100,000 tickets for Titanic Belfast, a striking aluminium-clad building which tells the famous ship's story through special effects, interactive screens and a ride, have been sold ahead of the opening.

Organisers hope the £97 million ($A149 million) centre can boost tourism in the British province, which was torn apart by sectarian strife for three decades until the late 1990s.

98 Jade (10) and Mia Heaney (8) from Castledawson: “It was really dangerous for the workers.

Some parts were fun, some parts were sad, but it was all really interesting.”

99 David Alan from Crawfordsburn: “Brilliant, well worth a visit and I’ll definitely come back.”

100 Matthew Rice (14) from Belfast: “H&W ride experience was excellent but it could have been faster.”

World’s Largest Mural 2012 - Largest Mural in the Gloria Hotel, Dubai

Dubai, 28th April 2012 (WAM) - Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, opened today the largest mural in the world, done by the Lebanese artist Souheil Madi, in Gloria Hotel Dubai. Dr. Ghaith Bin Hamel Al Ghaith, Vice Chairman of Al Ghaith Holding and the number of the governing body of Gloria Hotel and a group of dignitaries and a number of media personalities, attended the opening ceremony.

The artist, Souheil Madi, mentioned that his mural "Caravan of Women" is the largest of its kind in the world, and will be recorded in the Guinness Book of Records. "I drew the painting on the roof of the eighth floor in Gloria Hotel, which consists of 41 floors. The painting can be seen from high altitudes and helicopters", Madi said: "It is a giant flat 3D painting that lies on a space of approximately 1700 meter square".

According to the artist, the "Caravan of Women" represents the Camel caravans that used to pass through the Arabian Peninsula desert with women on board. The goal behind this painting is to honor mother, wife, daughter, and sister.

"Finishing this painting took nearly 100 hours of work, which is an accomplishment of record to paint a mural the size of football field. I drew the painting using a small paint brush with the help of only one associate artist selected from my students" Madi added.

Madi pointed out to the size of the board and the short time it was completed to qualify for registration in the Guinness Book of World Records, said that the largest flat-panel registered in the encyclopedia did not reach this standard.

From his perspective, Dr. Ghaith Al Ghaith, pointed out that the hotel residents enjoy seeing this giant work of art, which reflects the cultures and history of the United Arab Emirates. It also shows how much the country cares for the arts and the artists, as the painting is now the newest tourist landmark in Dubai.

Dr. Al Ghaith mentioned the efforts spent by the hotel to supply all needed items to finish this painting as a personal move for supporting the artistic movement, and to add a new landmark for tourists.

Usain Bolt - World's fastest 100m running world records 2012

Usain Bolt - World's fastest 100m Running world records 2012

USAIN Bolt currently holds the world's fastest 100m time of 9.58 seconds, run in Berlin three years ago. However, he has always claimed that 9.4s is achievable.

When the Jamaican arrives for London 2012 he will be under enormous pressure not only to defend his Olympic title at 100m, 200m and in the sprint relay, but also to set new world records. That could prove difficult, according to coach Glen Mills, who points to a potentially slippy London track.

"I don't think it [9.4s] is impossible," Mills said in The Daily Telegraph. "Usain Bolt has set his sights on achieving greater heights. He is quite aware that his work is not done yet.
usain bolt picture, usain bolt photo, usain bolt running world records 2012, usain bolt fastest runner, World's fastest runner, world's fastest runner speed
"But he'd have to have the right conditions and I'm not sure London is going to be kind."

Mills has more than one athlete aiming for 100m glory this year, with Blake the reigning world champion capable of a personal best 9.82s. When it comes to London 2012, Mills does not expect a one-man show.

"I think he (Blake) has now developed to the point where he is ready to compete at the Olympic level at both events (100m and 200m)," Mills said.

Bolt, it is felt, could add the 4x400m Olympic medal to his collection if he entered for the event in London, but Mills explained that such a decision would likely end up stopping the sprinter from retaining his sprint titles.

Mills, 62, said he sees no problem with Bolt having to potentially race at London against athletes who have served doping bans such as Britain’s Dwain Chambers and American Justin Gatlin. “I don’t believe somebody should be banned for life,” Mills said. “You should be given a chance to redeem yourself.

“One would hope the persons who have found themselves in trouble with that would have learned their lessons and operate under the fairness of competition and stay away from drugs.

“The rules are that if you commit an offence you are punished and after you serve your time you are reinstated. We have to compete under the rules. I don’t really have a problem… Even people who commit murder are given pardons.”

Bolt has spoken often about securing his status as a living legend, but Mills said that catchphrase is Bolt’s way of focusing on his main goals, defending three Olympic titles. “He has set that ‘Living Legend’ theme as a motivation to maintain his high standard of training and level of performance,” Mills said. “He has set his criteria of defending his gold medals in London as his objective.”

William Lawlis Pace - Living the longest with a bullet in his head

William Lawlis Pace, who was shot in the head by his brother accidentally in October 1917 and never had the bullet removed, has died at the age of 103.

The man who holds the Guinness World Record for living the longest with a bullet in his head has died in Central California at age 103.

Pace learned in 2006 that he had been crowned the world record-holder in the category of unwanted cranial ammunition acquisition.

His son told a newspaper during a birthday party for his father last year that doctors in Pace's native Texas left the bullet in place because they worried that surgery might cause brain damage.

The injury damaged one of his eyes and facial nerves but didn't prevent Pace from working as a cemetery custodian.

Largest speed dating set a Guinness World Record at the University of South Florida

TAMPA — It was an unconventional pick-up line in an unusual setting.

"What do you want to do before you die?"

Cross setting a world record off that list.

Two hundred and eighty-eight people at the University of South Florida set a Guinness World Record Wednesday for the largest speed mixer ever.
Largest speed dating picture, Largest speed dating 2012, World's largest speed dating even 2012, Largest speed dating Guinness World Record

Sitting across from each other under the blaring Florida sun, strangers had three minutes to ponder the question before moving on to the next person in line. Each dater would speak to 20 different people by the end.

Watching over them: Philip Robertson, an adjudicator for Guinness World Records.

"Who has found love here?" he asked before the final round. "Three people? Great!"

Though the sweat-inducing heat may have quashed an outbreak of romances, most involved said they still had fun.

"I think half of my face is sunburned," said Samantha Anton, a USF business student. "But it was a really cool thing to get to be a part of."

The event was sponsored by Verizon Wireless Careers and hosted by the cast of the MTV program The Buried Life, which features friends who travel across the country completing items on their bucket lists and helping strangers fulfill their dreams.

"The whole project's idea is to encourage people to go after things in life," cast member Jonnie Penn said.

The question asked at the event elicited answers ranging from normal to bizarre.

"I want to star on the Disney channel," one person said. Another hoped to someday roll down a hill in a giant hamster ball.

"It provided a weird glimpse into people's lives," said Theresa Milhizer, a 26-year-old from Naples, who spoke about wanting to visit Alaska.

Michael Belliveau, a USF structural engineering graduate student, had a long list of goals.

"I want to build a world-famous bridge," he told Ashley Martinez, a USF early childhood major, during the first round.

"I want to build a sailboat from scratch and sail all over the world in it," he said.

By the sixth round of the same question, Belliveau's list had been fine-tuned.

"It seems like my bucket list is getting more clear and concise," he said.

In the end, the event was fun, he said, but that was it. He doesn't expect any new connections to come of it.

Before Wednesday, there was no existing Guinness World Record for a large speed dating event, Guinness' Robertson said.

In order to set the record, the event had to have at least 250 people involved, he said.

The day started with more than 300, but dozens of participants walked away during the two-hour event.

Why 250 people?

"It has to be arduous enough to be challenging," Robertson said. "But not so arduous that it can't be achieved."

World’s biggest McDonald’s - Biggest McDonald's in the world

The world’s biggest McDonald’s will be built in London for the upcoming Olympic Games 2012. The 3,000 sqm monster fast food joint will be in East London, near the Olympic Village but will not be permanent, with plans to take it down after the Olympics.

The biggest McDonald's restaurant in the world will open for six weeks during the London 2012 Olympic games with plans to serve more than 50,000 Big Mac burgers and 180,000 orders of french fries.

The huge temporary branch will have seating for 1,500 customers and will employ more than 2,000 staff.

While the world's top athletes compete at the Olympics and Paralymics from July 27 to September 9 three million people are expected to visit the McDonald's branch. The nearly ten-thousand square feet restaurant built from recyclable materials will stretch over two floors and is equivalent to half the length of an American football field.

The 12,000 people who applied to work at the huge branch and three others planned for the Olympic site have been put through X Factor style auditions across the country.

They were judged on politeness and how well they flipped burgers, served ice cream and cooked the French fries.

McDonald's began its involvement with the Olympics in 1968 when the company airlifted hamburgers to U.S. athletes competing in Grenoble, France. The firm first became an official sponsor at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal and in 1984 McDonald's footed the bill for the Olympic swimming stadium in Los Angeles.

The London Olympics will be the ninth games where McDonald's has acted as the event's official restaurant and the only branded food retailer feeding the athletes.

Ingredients for the McDonald's menu at London 2012 will be sourced from 17,500 British and Irish farms. The fast-food giant also plans to give away nine million activity toys with its Happy Meals during the games as part of its 'Mascotathon' campaign.

Canadian cow produces most milk ever set Guinness World Records

A Holstein cow named Smurf from a farm just east of Canada's capital has set a new world record for the most milk produced in a lifetime - a whopping 216,891 kg (478,163 pounds) over 15 years.

And she's still producing.

"That's the equivalent of more than one million glasses of milk," said Smurf's owner Eric Patenaude, a sixth generation Canadian dairy farmer.

Guinness World Records confirmed the record to AFP on Monday. It previously belonged to a cow in the US state of Michigan.

The average dairy cow yields about 35,000 kilograms (33,981 liters) of milk in a lifetime, or less than 50 liters per day. Smurf produces approximately the same daily amount, but has lived three times longer than most dairy cows.

It's her "longevity and consistency" that won her the prize, which also earned Smurf "Udder Accolades" from a local newspaper, said Patenaude. "That's how she's produced so much milk."

It also helps that she's got good genes: Smurf's father was a stud named Emperor from Wisconsin and her mother, Murphy, was also a "good milker," said a herder at La Ferme Gillette in Embrun, Ontario.

Dr Amit Garg - Haryana boy creates Memory and Mental Calculation World Records

Fastest Time For An Individual To Solve Ten Mathematical Problems By Dividing A 10-Digit Number By A 5-Digit Number

At a time when the world is addicted to calculators and computers for even minor mathematical calculations, a Haryana boy and former IIT topper has created a new world record in mental division.

Dr Amit Garg, who did his masters in industrial technology from IIT Delhi before moving to the US for higher research, mentally divided a 10-digit number with a five-digit number in 34.5 seconds. The previous world record of a similar mental calculation is 36 seconds.

Dr Garg, currently a Senior Operations Research Analyst at Baybridge Decision Technology, Annapolis, USA, broke the record of Willem Bouman from the Netherlands. Based on the feat, he has been selected to represent India at the coveted Mental Calculations World Cup due to be held in Germany between September 29 and October 1 this year.

Speaking to The Tribune from the US today, Amit, whose current work profile involves writing mathematical and operations research algorithms to solve complex business problems, said he was proud to have achieved the record in 2012, which India is celebrating as the Year of Mathematics.

“Mathematics is my passion. These days when most people are habituated to calculators for division or multiplication, my feat, I hope, will help revive interest in mental calculations or at least pen and paper calculations,” said Amit, who moved to the US in 2002 for higher studies and started working there.

He broke the record in the US on March 15. The record has been accepted and published in two important record books -- the UK’s Book of Alternative Records and the US Record Setter.

On March 15, Amit did 10 such divisions correctly without writing any intermediate results or using any instruments in a record time of 34.5 seconds per division at Annapolis, MD, USA. These numbers were randomly selected by the programme provided by Ralf Laue, author of The Book of Alternative Records and organiser of the Mental Calculations World Cup and Co-Chairman of Memoriad, an institution dedicated to mental calculations.

“These tasks were such that there was no remainder. The world record was organised with the help of my employer in the US and there were witnesses,” said Amit, who has often surprised his colleagues by computing square roots and cube roots before the calculator could do it.

On March 31, Ralf Laue announced that Amit's world record of 5:45 minutes for 10 divisions had been accepted and beat the previous record of 6:07 minutes by Willem Bouman from the Netherlands.

“On the basis of my feat, I received the invitation to represent India in the fifth Mental Calculation World Cup competition in Giessen, Germany,” Amit said.

This international competition invites only 40 participants from the whole world with no individual country limit. Participants would be asked to find square root, do multiplications, additions as also surprise tasks like cube root, fractions, prime factors in a record time.

World’s largest nacho plate set Guinness World Records by Kansas Relays

World’s largest nacho plate set Guinness World Records by Kansas Relays

A heaping 4,689-pound plate of chips, meat, cheese, beans and peppers earned Lawrence a slot in the Guinness Book of World Records on Saturday. The title for the world’s largest nacho plate did not come without a struggle.

For starters, a half-dozen volunteers worked on the project, galvanizing help, collecting resources and prepping food for two weeks. Then early Saturday morning, a crew of 80-plus volunteers began assembling the nachos at Memorial Stadium. At one point, a cooler went out, causing a big portion of the food to spoil.

“It was hectic. ... We lost a couple thousand pounds of food. We had to overcome that and get food locally,” said Rick Brown, general manager of Kansas Athletics’ food vendor, Centerplate. “We run all of the food and beverage for the facilities, so we have extra food. Really it was just about pulling the resources together.”

Brown organized the event, working with Salty Iguana and Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen. Salty Iguana donated food and provided volunteers.

Volunteers aimed to create a tasty nacho, not just a big one. Meat was marinated, onions were chopped, and jalapeno juice was blended with black beans. There were also fresh pico de gallo and cilantro.

The 80-foot nacho plate was finished by noon and served to Kansas Relays ticket-holders with a $1 donation or a canned food item, which will benefit LINK. Even after 1 p.m., when the dish had lost its warmth, people were filing through the stadium, clutching paper plates piled high with nachos. Jan Williams sat on a bench about 1:30 p.m., nibbling at a freshly scooped plate.

“It’s kind of cold, but it’s wonderful,” Williams said. “I think (what they did) is great.”

At least 70 percent of the nachos were consumed. And Brown is confident the record is safe in Lawrence. The last record, which landed at 3,999 pounds, was set in October of 2011 by Ninety Nine Restaurant, in Massachusetts.

Japanese Monkey Man - Kenichi Ito Holds World Record In Four-Legged Running (pics & Video)

The 29-year-old Tokyo man has spent the past eight and a half years developing a four-legged running style modeled after the African Patas monkey, according to Reuters. The process has involved Ito walking around his suburban neighborhood and performing household chores on all fours, and even squatting like a simian while talking to others.
Picture of world's fastest runner on four legs
This lifestyle is no monkey business, though.

In November 2008, Ito set the world record for running 100 meters on all fours. His time was 18.58 seconds, according to Guinness World Records.

In addition to his speedy gallop, Ito has developed five other distinct styles of movement on all fours, the International Business Times reported. He draws inspiration from the animal world, utilizing both the Internet and his season ticket to the zoo.

Ito has had to endure more than just curious stares for the sake of his craft. He told Reuters that while practicing in the mountains, he was almost shot by a hunter who mistook him for a wild boar.

His dedication stems from a love of monkeys that dates back to childhood, according to ITV News. Ito says he has identified with the animals from an early age, and that "somewhere inside of me I had this ambition to adopt one of their traits." Ito found this trait when he saw a monkey running quickly. "From that point on," he said, "I practiced running like a monkey every day."

Tunnel of Fire Motorcycle Stunt Rider, Toby Baker and Isaac “Factory Faine” to Break Guinness Book World Records During Sturgis Rally

The Sturgis Buffalo Chip announced today that it will host the world record attempt for the Longest Motorcycle Ride Through a Tunnel of Fire by famed stunt rider and former record holder Toby Baker. Motorcycle stunt rider, Toby Baker, will attempt to reclaim the Guinness Book of World Record’s dangerous title of Longest Motorcycle Ride Through a Tunnel of Fire that will reach a temperature of 2900 degrees, collapse 9 seconds after lighting, and exceed a distance of 230 feet, a distance that has killed motorcycle riders who have attempted this dangerous stunt in the past. Witness this world record attempt by Toby Baker and a variety of other world record motorcycle stunt attempts by fellow stunt rider Isaac Faine at the Buffalo Chip during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, August 4th through Aug 11th.

In 1973 legendary motorcycle daredevil, Ken McKow set the world record for riding 130 ft through a Tunnel of Fire that stood for almost 30 years. In 1999, Baker officially shattered that record with a distance of 203 ft. Recently, Baker’s record was broken and now he is coming to the Sturgis Buffalo Chip and bringing the Guinness Book of World Records with him to reclaim his fire tunnel world record.

Stuntman and Motorcycle daredevil, Toby Baker, will bring his amazing and death-defying world record Tunnel of Fire attempt and motorcycle stunt show to the Sturgis Buffalo Chip along with fellow motorcycle stunt rider Isaac “Factory Faine”. Factory Faine will attempt to set some world records of his own, including one of him jumping over the burning tunnel of fire as Toby rides through it. World's Youngest Fashion Designer sets world record by Duda Bündchen

World's Youngest Fashion Designer sets world record by Duda Bündchen

We know models are getting younger and younger, but the new girl making waves in the fashion world has really taken us by surprise.

Introducing five-year-old Duda Bündchen. If you feel like you've heard that surname before, it's because it usually follows the forename of arguably the most famous and the certified richest model in the world, Gisele, who is Duda's aunt.

Photo: Duda Bündchen, the World's Youngest Fashion Designer hard at work on her collaborative collection with Brandili Mundi.

For those prone to feeling inadequate about their life achievements so far, perhaps it's best not to read on, for Duda - who was last year named the 'face' of Brazilian children's wear label Brandili Mundi - has this year been signed up as a designer of her first solo collection too...

Designed and produced with eco-friendly materials 'Duda Bündchen for Brandili Mundi' is set to hit stores in July, and has apparently been 'overseen' by the fashion-conscious child from its inception.

The new fashionista is Duda Bunchen, niece to model Gisele Bundchen, who is only five years old.

Germano Costa, commercial and marketing director of Brandili Textil, told Forbes ''She told us about her preferences on prints, cuts and details, and based on the briefing we received from her we came up with a collaborative collection.

"She told us about her preferences on prints, cuts and details, and based on the briefing we received from her we came up with a collaborative collection. The pieces were all approved by Duda, whose romantic inspiration will no doubt catch girls' eyes," the company's commercial and marketing director Germano Costa told Forbes earlier this week.

Clearly comfortable with the glamorous modelling lifestyle already, the rather accomplished (and we'll admit super-cute) 5-year-old poseur can be seen twirling her way around a garden in her hometown of Porto Alegre in the collection's advertising campaign, which was created by a team of 30 photographers, stylists and make-up artists.
