Largest flour taco in the world - Longest Line Of Tacos World Record

The 500 tacos brought to East Haven Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr. by Reform Immigration for America on Thursday was impressive and made a point, but how does it compare to current Taco-related world record holders? Well, it depends on the type of Taco and who you ask. Our enterprise reporting team did some digging and we have the breakdown.

The largest flour taco in the world weighed 750 kg (1,654 lb) and was made by the city of Mexicali and Cocinex SA de CV, in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico on 8 March 2003, according to Guinness World Records.

However, Mexico beat its own record in 2011 creating a 50-meter long taco in the Mexican capital’s Plaza Garibaldi (WATCH THE VIDEO). The taco was filled with an “indeterminate” volume of onion, rice, cilantro, pork cracklings, beef, chicken, eggs and sausages. Unfortunately, the City didn’t have enough enough funds to register the record with Guinness World Records.Screen shot 2012 01 27 at 3.38.35 PM 300x222 Some Amazing Taco World Records

“We’re in the process of registering it, but it implies an expenditure that can’t be contemplated right now of more than 400,000 pesos (some $33,000),” municipal official Agustin Torres Pérez told news service EFE.

Mexico had made another record-breaking taco in the same City the year before, according to the newspaper El Mundo.

World's fastest movie shot by DESY's X-ray laser FLASH in Hamburg

World's fastest movie shot by DESY's X-ray laser FLASH in Hamburg

The world's fastest movie was shot by DESY's X-ray laser FLASH in Hamburg. In its 2012 edition, the famous Guinness Book of World Records lists an interval of a mere 50 femtoseconds between two frames for FLASH. A femtosecond is a quadrillionth of a second, meaning that the two images are separated by just 0.000 000 000 000 05 seconds – this is 800 billion times faster than a feature film.

On Thursday, Professor Stefan Eisebitt from Technische Universität Berlin and the Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin will present the record slow motion at the DESY light sources users' meeting. As the film motif for the demonstration of the technique his group chose a micro model of the Brandenburg Gate, spanning only a few micrometres.

The specialised light sources at DESY offer scientists unique insights into the world of atoms and molecules and attracted more than 2500 guest users in 2011 alone. More than 600 participants registered for the three-day users' meeting organised jointly by DESY and the European XFEL.

"The novel X-ray lasers will offer high speed films of ultrafast molecular processes and chemical reactions for a better understanding of these processes," emphasises DESY's director of research Professor Edgar Weckert. At FLASH, Eisebitt and his team demonstrated the fastest imaging sequence so far. For this purpose, the scientists split the X-ray laser beam into two flashes and sent one of them via a detour of only 0.015 millimetres, making it arrive 50 femtoseconds later than the first one. Since no detector can be read out so fast, the scientists stored both images as superimposed holograms, allowing the subsequent reconstruction of the single images.

With these experiments, the scientists showed that this record slow motion is achievable. However, they did not only take the world's fastest but probably also the shortest film – with just two images. Thus, additional development work is necessary for the use of this method in practice.

Most pizzas made in one hour set world record by Domino’s Pizza branch in Australia

Most pizzas made in one hour set world record by Domino’s Pizza branch in Australia

The Domino’s Pizza store in Bundaberg, in Queensland Australia has succeeded smashing not one, but two world records after its pizza making marathon on Saturday January 21st.

The team at the Domino’s Pizza takeaway in Bundaberg shot into the Guinness Book of World Records by making 837 pizzas in just one hour on Saturday night, meaning the pizza makers turned out more than 13 pizzas every minute in order to clinch the new record.

The record breaking team of pizza makers also clinched another title, this time a new Domino’s Pizza record for the most pizzas made and sold in a week after the branch churned out a whopping 25,000 pizzas in just seven days.

The store manager of the Bundaberg branch of Domino’s Pizza, Deeana Gatti, said her team were absolutely thrilled to have set not one, but two world records. The manager of the Queensland franchise said 120 team members from across Australia and also as far afield as New Zealand came together at the store for the record breaking attempt.

While the Domino’s Pizza branch succeeded in scooping two world records over the last week, they did miss out on a third record for the “most pizzas made in 24 hours by a team” which they narrowly avoided winning. However, not ones to be defeated, Bundaberg’s Domino’s Pizza are planning to re-attempt this record later in the year.

Lokmat Aurangabad Stadium - Most people singing a national anthem enters Guinness world record

Lokmat Aurangabad Stadium - Most people singing a national anthem enters Guinness world record 2012.

On the eve of republic day, 15243 people sang the National Anthem together.

Over 15,000 people from Aurangabad gathered in a stadium today and sang the national anthem, creating a Guinness world record.
In a rousing display of patriotism and unity, the voices of thousands of Aurangabadkars, singing Jana Gana Mana in full-throated fervour, created history this morning. With a tally of 15243, they took India into the Guinness Book of World Records for ‘the most people singing a national anthem simultaneously’, erasing the previous record held by Pakistan for 5800 individuals.

Andrea Banfi, Head of Adjudicators, Guinness World Records Limited, who had flown in from London, handed over the certificate to Rajya Sabha MP and Chairman of Lokmat Media Limited, Vijay Babu Darda, who accepted it on behalf of each and every Aurangabadkar who had created the world record for India.

Other Guinness World Records Limited officials present on the occasion were Lucia Sinigagliesi, Adjudications Manager, and Nikhil Shukla, Adjudicator – India.

Commenting on the achievement, Rishi Darda, Editorial Director – Lokmat Media Ltd., said, “This is our gift, as a responsible media house deeply connected with Aurangabad, to not just Aurangabadkars, but every Indian. We are delighted that Aurangabadkars responded so splendidly to our world record attempt initiative to commemorate the completion of 100 years of Jana Gana Mana since it was first sung.” It will be recalled that Jana Gana Mana was first sung at the Calcutta Session of the Indian National Congress on 27 December 1911. It was declared the Indian National Anthem by the Constituent Assembly on 24 January 1950.

Lokmat Media had pulled out all stops to inform every Aurangabadkar of the world record attempt. Rishi Darda said, “I would like to thank our sponsors and media partners who ably supported us in the initiative.” While Radio Mirchi was the radio partner, MCN Hathway, IBN7, IBN Lokmat and CNN IBN were the TV partners, and Abhishek Advertisers was the outdoor media partner. The sponsors were WS Developers, while the Phadnis Group was the co-sponsor.

As early as 7 am, all roads leading to the District Sports Complex (Vibhagiya Kreeda Sankul) in Garkheda witnessed traffic jams, with students, working people, housewives and families making their way purposefully to take part in the historic world record attempt with the National Anthe on the eve of Republic Day. Armed with incomparable zeal and energy, they came from all walks of life and far-flung locations of Aurangabad.

Guinness World Record 2012 - Most number of people shake hands simultaneously

Leuva Patels - Most number of people shake hands set Guinness World Record 2012

There, 24,435 Leuva Patel couples (48,870 people) set the record for the most number of handshakes in an event, at one of the biggest congregations of their politically influential and cash-rich community.

A Guinness Book official, Lucia, who was present at the village, announced that this was the first event in the world where "most number of people shook hands simultaneously".

As many as 21,000 couples today took part in the foundation stone-laying ceremony of a temple at Kagvad in the district, creating a unique world record. The proposed temple at Kagvad, about 75 km from here, is of Maa Khodiyar, the deity of the Leuva Patel community.

A five-member team from the Guinness Book of World Records was present to witness the ceremony in which 21,000 couples took part. Lakhs of community members from across the country were also present, said Naresh Patel, president of Khodal Dham Trust, which is building the temple.

Several political leaders belonging to the community, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel, state revenue minister Anandiben Patel and Congress MP Vitthal Radadiya attended the event.

In a massive show of strength likely to create a political stir, an estimated 21 lakh Leuva Patels are expected to gather at Kagvad near Virpur in Rajkot district on Saturday for the shilanyas of their community deity Ma Khodal.

This is the first time that the politically influential Leuvas are presenting themselves as one single unit. Their arch-rival community, the Kadvas, have showed exemplary unity since the eighties and have made remarkable progress politically as well as economically, despite being comparatively smaller in number.

The Kadvas closed ranks in 1985 with a similar congregation near Unja in Mehsana district, which is the seat of their community deity Umiya Ma.

Now, the Leuvas plan to follow suit.

As many as 21,000 couples are likely to participate in the shilanyas pooja on Saturday. The organisers, Samast Leuva Patel Samaj, claimed a team of Guinness Books of World Records is coming to witness what could set a new world record.

Naresh Patel, an industrialist from Rajkot and a patron of the project, said community unity was very important for development of society. “So far, Leuvas were not united. Thanks to Ma Khodal, we all are coming under a single umbrella,” he said, adding that 21 lakh Leuva Patels from 21 states in India and seven countries will attend the function.

World’s largest clothes donation 2012 - Portugal

World’s largest clothes donation set Guinness world records by Portugal

Portugal has entered the Guinness Book of World Records with the largest clothes line, an initiative that enabled more than 100,000 pieces of clothing to be collected through donations in six weeks, which will be given to more than 20,000 needy people.

A representative from the Guinness Book of World Records was in Portugal last week to award a certificate for the world’s largest donation of clothes.

In six weeks, a total 101,240 pieces of clothing were donated that will be sent to more than 100 charity institutions to be handed out to more than 20,000 needy people, according to a joint statement from the company Multi Mall Management that manages 12 shopping centres in Portugal and the Entreajuda charity, which organised the initiative.

According to the organisers the 101,240 pieces of clothing were collected up to January, when Portugal was awarded the Guinness titles, but by 6 January, when the campaign ended, a further 16,116 items of clothing were donated, bringing the total to 117,356.

António Matias Lopes from Multi Mall Management Portugal said that he was “satisfied” with the charity campaign and that “aside from helping thousands of people, it promotes unity and cooperation within the country.”

MP's Surya Namaskar draws 70 lakh, sets world record

MP's Surya Namaskar draws 70 lakh, sets world record

As Madhya Pradesh gears up to create a world record today for largest aerobics demonstration (multi location) by holding mass Surya Namaskar on January 12 (which also happens to be Vivekananda Jayanti) across the state, Muslim leaders have equated it with idol worship and issued a fatwa against it.

Meanwhile, state Chief Minister Shiv Raj Singh Chauhan has urged the Muslim community to avoid taking any offense claiming that the ‘Surya Namaskar’ in schools across the state is not mandatory.

At present, the record for largest aerobics demonstration rests with Kazhakistan's multi location aerobic where 48, 45,098 people participated. To break this record, it is necessary that more than 48, 45,098 people participate in Surya Namaskar.

It was a different morning for students in Government schools and colleges and most of the private institutions in Madhya Pradesh. They reached the premises to set a world record to be registered in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The School Education Department claimed around 70 lakh people, including students from more than 6,000 schools in the State took part in the event.

Defying the fatwa issued by some Muslim bodies in Madhya Pradesh, a large number of Muslim students were also seen participating in the record making Surya Namaskar event.

Rajeshwari Rai, a Class VII student of the prestigious Cambridge Higher Secondary School said, “Though it was very cold in the morning, we participated in the Surya Namaskar held in the ground of our school. It was enthusiastic to see our teachers too stretching out with us.”

However, the young girl was not aware that the event was part of any record creating exercise.

Alima Khan, a Class X student of the Government Bab-e-Ali school in the walled city said, “We participated in the Surya Namaskar event held in the school despite it being very cold. As it was a collective exercise we enjoyed it and are happy that we are part of the world record team.”

Abdul Sami, a Class V student of Jawaharlal Nehru School said that while participating in the event, he did not repeat some mantras recited on the occasion, but he enjoyed the stretching exercise.

Sajid Siddiqui of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), who was one of the dozen Muslim organisations that had opposed the Surya Namaskar, and brought fatwa against the event, while speaking to The Pioneer, declined to comment over the participation of Muslims students in the event, saying, “We had opposed the event as it was against the Constitution.

Five organisations of Muslims had opposed the event and appealed to the Muslim parents not to send their wards to school on the day.

The event is being held in the schools of Madhya Pradesh for the past four years on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand, but this was the first time when the Government is claiming for world record.

The School Education Department had already intimated the officials of Guinness Book of World Records regarding this exercise. For the purpose, special arrangements were made by installing video cameras in all the campuses where Surya Namaskar was organised. The recording will be sent for review to those who handle the Guinness Book of World Records.

Thursday's event was an effort to break the Kazakhstan's record of holding world’s largest aerobics demonstration. The Guinness Book of World Record in largest aerobics demonstration is with Kazakhstan in which 48, 45,098 people had participated. The event was held on September 27, 2003 simultaneous multi location aerobics display was held, supported by Kazakhstan’s Presidential administration, to promote a healthy lifestyle.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was seen stretching not just himself as a participant, but also a part of the record bid. The signal to begin the Surya Namaskar was given via All India Radio. The enthusiastic Chief Minister was seen stretching out on the occasion, along with others at the local Naveen Higher Secondary School despite the fact that he was recently operated in his left palm. With 15 stitches, bandage was visible in his palm.

Official sources said it could take around a month for the decision of Guinness Book of World Records when Madhya Pradesh could set a new record.

Meanwhile, the Isai Mahasangh (IMS), that had been opposing the event stated that it would approached the Guinness World Records authorities asking them not to include the event, as it promotes communal discord in a multi-religious society. IMS Convener Fr Anand Muttungal told, "We are waiting for the news published in this regard. We would approach the authorities with the news clippings," he added.

Biggest spiral of dominos set World Record by Patrick Sinner

Biggest spiral of dominos set World Record by Patrick Sinner and his friends.

It's not a hobby for impatient people, but a teenager and his group of friends are willing to painstakingly align hundreds of domino pieces if it means they can break a world record.

Patrick Sinner and his friends attempted to make the largest spiral shaped wall of domino pieces, spending 40 hours putting it together in a community hall.

The fifteen-year-old built the wall in Kefenrod, central Germany and his friends Julian, Jan-Eric, Lukas, Dustin and Christian hope that their patience and steady hands will be enough to break the record as they await confirmation from the adjudicators.

Initial counts indicate that the team used 30,000 dominoes and the circle had a diameter of ten metres, covering almost the entire hall floor, before they started the collapse.

The teens were attempting to break two world records, but their second attempt to build a wall of dominos was unsuccessful.

But they were pleased that the spiral fell as planned while being watched by 200 people in hall and by the adjudicators.

It seems Germany has a reputation for setting domino records, as according to the Guinness Book of Records, the tallest domino structure was constructed by students in Buchloe on 5 September 2010.

It was 5.08 m (16 ft 8 in) high and consisted of 9,140 dominos -  the students who spent the time building it, were also allowed to knock it down at the end.

The Guinness Book of Records, also state that was in Germany that the largest number of dominos stacked on one single piece was achieved by Maximilian Poserm, who managed 1002 pieces in Berlin, on 6 February 2009.

Christine Nesbitt - Speed Skating World Record

Christine Nesbitt - Speed skating World Record

Christine Nesbitt took a run at the world record Saturday in winning the 1,000 metres at the Canadian single distance speedskating championships.

The 2010 Olympic champion, who is dominating the World Cup circuit at that distance this season, posted a time of one minute, 13.80 seconds at the Olympic Oval, coming within an eyelash of catching Canadian teammate Cindy Klassen's world best time of 1:13.11.

Winnipeg's Klassen was third in 1:16.56. Brittany Schussler, also from Winnipeg, captured the silver in 1:16.10.

Jordan Belchos of Toronto won the men's 10,000 to add to his 5,000 victory on Friday. Klassen won the 5,000.

Klassen's 1,000 mark, which was also set in Calgary, has stood since 2006.

"No, I wasn't," said Nesbitt politely when asked if she was trying to break the record on a track that also surrendered Klassen's current world records in the 500 and 5,000.

"I was just trying to have a good first lap. I haven't skated a 1,000 on the outer [lane] in a long time, so I wanted to take advantage of that opportunity before world sprints. I will have to start on the outer there."

Nesbitt has won all three World Cup 1,000 metre races this season, all held in Europe.

On the World Cup circuit the higher-ranked skater in each pairing is given the inner lane to start. Here in Calgary this week it is being determined by draw.

At the world sprint championships in Calgary on Jan. 28-29, both the 500 and 1,000 events will be two-race combined times, so skaters will have one inner lane and one outer lane start.

"[The outer lanes is] harder for me, because I don't have a strong start compared to the pure sprinters. So, to start on the outer I find can be a disadvantage. So I was happy to practice that.

"I tried to skate as fast as I can the first lap and then finish the [two-and-a-half lap] race hard."

Nesbitt's previous best time this season was 1:14.82, which set a track record at Astana, Kazakhstan on Nov. 27.

She will skate the 500 metres Sunday to close out the Canadian championships and then will move on to Salt Lake City for a World Cup on Jan. 21-22.

Belchos defended his Canadian title in 13:32.33, some 10 seconds off his personal best recorded at Canadian trials last fall. Scott Bickerton of Nelson, B.C., took the silver in 1:47.83. Stefan Waples of Winnipeg finished third in 1:52.97.

"I knew I wasn't in top form, so I just tried to win, basically," said Belchos, who is recovering from a cold.

"Usually I can hold 31 [second laps] a little longer into the race. Today it didn't come real easy."

Klassen won the 5,000 in 7:08.42. Nicole Garrido of Edmonton was second in 7:16.40. Schussler captured the bronze in 7:14.26.

Trefor Davies - Most comments on an online news item in 24 hours

Trefor Davies - Most comments on an online news item in 24 hours.

An attempt at the world record for the most comments on an online news item in 24 hours is underway, with the organiser aiming to get over 100,000 comments on a blog post.

The record attempt is being organised by Trefor Davies in aid of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and the blogger hopes to raise £100,000 for the charity.

Guinness World Records said the attempt would be successful if the blog post managed to get over 100,000 unique comments but Mr Davies hopes to surpass that number.

'With your help we think we can whoop that (number) and have moved the blog on to a state of the art internet platform to cope,' he said.

For every comment received, £1 will be donated to the charity.

Mr Davies added: 'It’s amazing how much support there is out there.

'Firstly people want to help the RNLI and then they are interested in being part of an online world record.

'It is also interesting to see that people who have either been rescued themselves or know someone who has have been making donations.'

Mr Davies came up with the unique record breaking idea when he was in a pub. The internet blogger promised to give £1 for every comment left by a member of staff on his website.

This idea eventually blossomed into the world record attempt.

Mr Davies wants users to leave comments about a person or organisation that has been an inspiration.

Surat girl Priyanshi Somani created a world record

Surat girl Priyanshi Somani created a world record by solving a mathematics quiz in a record time. She completed the task in half the time taken by the current record holder. It is a matter of pride for the entire city of Surat.

Priyanshi bagged the honours by winning Maths World Cup-2010. Earlier, she had achieved this feat by solving 10 questions in just 6 minutes and 32 seconds. However, Turkey-based teenager Hassan Gulbagar broke her record by solving 10 questions in just 4 minutes and 55 seconds. A competition was held in Surat on Tuesday to break Hassan's record and Priyanshi solved 10 questions in just 2.43 minutes!

The speed with which she completed the task surprised everyone including her teacher.

“Priyanshi's feat is amazing and I don't think anyone can break her record. To solve one question, a good mathematician will also take more than five minutes, but Priyanshi solved all of them in just 2:43 minutes, which is amazing,” said, Deepesh Desai, her teacher. According to Desai, the question paper was prepared by the German-based Alternative World Record and Turkish Company Memoroid. It has similar questions which Hassan solved in 4.55 minutes.

Surprised by her own achievement, Priyanshi said, “I had no idea that it would take me only 2.43 minutes to solve the questions. I thought that it would take more than 3.5 minutes to solve them. I still can't believe what I have achieved,” said an ecstatic Priyanshi.

Baluarte Bridge - World's tallest suspension bridge in Mexico

Baluarte Bridge - World's tallest suspension bridge in Mexico

The world's tallest suspension bridge opened in Mexico Thursday spanning a ravine higher than New York's Empire State building and Paris' Eiffel Tower.

At 403 meters or 1,322 feet tall, the Baluarte Bicentennial Bridge connects between the northwestern states of Sinaloa and Durango in the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains.

Officials with the Guinness Book of World Records were present as was President Felipe Calderon for the opening ceremony.

Mexican President Felipe Calderon officially opened the Baluarte Bridge in the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains Thursday, the British Broadcasting Corp. reported. With a 1,321-foot drop from its deck to the bottom of the Baluarte River beneath, the span was named by Guinness World Records as the world's highest cable-stayed bridge.

According to the BBC, Baluarte stole its record from France's Millau Viaduct, which Guinness says remains the world's tallest, stretching 1,125 feet from top to bottom.

The Mexican span wasn't able to claim the record of being the world's highest bridge. According to the Guinness website, that honor remains with China's Si Du River Bridge in the Hubei province with a deck 1,549 feet off the ground.

The difference between the two bridges is that the Eiffel Tower could fit underneath the Baluarte Bridge but not the Empire State Building, which the Si Du River Bridge would cover.

The Baluarte Bridge isn't expected to open to traffic until later this year. The Reuters news service reported that construction began on the bridge in February 2008 and cost hundreds of millions to complete.

World's largest collection of Converse sneakers

World's largest collection of Converse sneakers

For about the last eight years of a 20-year teaching career that ended with her retirement in June, Penny Gold would play a game with her students that started on the first day of school.

She would wear a brand new pair of her favorite sneakers, Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars, and then wear a different pair of them every single day for the rest of the school year while her students would try to catch her wearing the same sneakers twice.

“The kids would have laptops or iPads and they would write a journal to try to catch me wearing the same ones,’’ she said. “They would joke that they got me, but they couldn’t fool me because I know I always had a different pair on.’’

Her former students may have another story to tell about their old teacher as that collection of Chucks, which is now up to 733 pairs, has the 63-year-old Florida woman in line to enter the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest collection of Converse sneakers. On Thursday, she had help from family, friends and former students as she went through a crucial part of the process by publicly documenting her collection to be recognized as a Guinness record.

Her shoes were removed from their usual spot in her walk-in closet in her home, photographed in pairs of 24 and then loaded in plastic crates of 24 into a U-Haul rented by her husband. He and a friend then unloaded them in the multi-purpose room at the Jewish Academy of Orlando in Maitland, Fla., where she taught for 20 years. Part of the Guinness verification process is having a public showing where community members are enlisted as witnesses to a record. The only other alternative is if the person going for a record wants staff from Guinness to personally come to verify it, which Gold said can cost between $8,000 and $10,000.

Seven people helped officially count the sneakers, marking up tally sheets that are required to be sent to Guinness. The seven counters also have to submit handwritten notes to Guinness that they counted the sneakers and all came up with 733. The current record is 403 held by Joshua Mueller of Lakewood, Wash.

A spokesperson for Guinness said they have received the claim and are waiting on the evidence of the witness statements, photos and log books to verify each pair is different and a Converse shoe. It can take up to 12 weeks to verify after the documentation is received.

“It was crazy and so much fun,’’ said Gold, who jokingly autographed pictures of the sneakers for the students. “My family all thinks I'm crazy, but they love it, and they support it because I won't spend regular price on the sneakers. If you’re going to have to have a habit, this is at least a clean, healthy habit.’’

Gold’s infatuation with Converse Chuck Taylors started when she was a teenager growing up in Brooklyn in the 1960s, when Chucks were the signature shoe of members of the New York Knicks. The shoe fit, so she decided to wear it 700 different ways, with it officially becoming an obsession about 15 years ago after three Converse outlet stores opened in the Orlando area about 25 minutes from her home. Now she is on a first-name basis with employees at the three stores, who set aside several pairs of unusual new ones for her when they come in. Employees from two of the stores were there in person during the public showing on Thursday.

Every pair she has purchased has been done in person, as she has not bought any off eBay. She usually gets sneakers that are normally $60 for about $25 a pair, and the longest she can remember going without snatching up a new pair was a month hiatus this past summer.

Gold has pairs ranging from music-themed sneakers featuring Metallica and the Doors to comic-style Chucks with Batman and Robin on them to ones with a red-and-white tablecloth design and a 3-D fried egg on them. Her prized pair is designed with a map of the New York City subway system on them that shows the stops where she used to get on and off while attending Baruch College.

World's Cheapest Android Tablet 2012 - Aakash Android tablet

The Aakash Android Tablet from India is the world's cheapest tablet coming in at only $41 USD. Why is the tablet so cheap? It was a project for the Indian Government to put tablet devices into the education system for students (through subsidies), or any other person who could not afford the higher priced tablets currently on the market like the Apple iPad 2 or Samsung Galaxy 10.1.

The Ubislate7 is the name of this super cheap tablet device which is manufactured by Datawind. The Aakash Android tablet (ubislate7) runs Android 2.2 Froyo, has an 800 x 480 resistive touchscreen, with a meager 366MHz Connexant processor, 2 GB of internal storage, 256MB RAM, USB slot, and a MicroSD slot for expandable memory. Also within this little tablet that could is Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g, GPRS modem and a smaller battery giving it around 3 hours of continuous usage. It may not be the fastest tablet around, but at that price...it's hard to complain about what it doesn't have.

The tablet has locked down a reported 1.4 million orders already in only two weeks, and will likely keep momentum going in the next few months as more people find out about it. If you want to check into ordering, they're backed up until March 2012,

World's biggest airport - Beijing Daxing International airport in China

When Beijing Daxing International airport opens in 2015, the Chinese capital will become the world's busiest aviation hub, handling around 370,000 passengers a day.

It is only three years since the opening of Terminal 3 at Beijing Capital Airport, a sweeping structure designed by Sir Norman Foster that is far bigger than all of Heathrow's five terminals combined.

But an enormous boom in China's aviation industry has already left the capital's existing facilities stretched to breaking point. "It is impossible to add even one more flight to the tight daily schedule of the Capital airport," said Li Jiaxing, the minister in charge of China's Civil Aviation Administration.

"The existing airport in Beijing has an annual capacity of 75 million passengers. Last year it handled 73 million," said Cao Yunchun, a professor at the country's Civil Aviation University. "In two years, it will be totally packed. And it cannot be expanded infinitely," he added.

Instead, Beijing's planners have found a 21 sq mile site to the south of the city, in the suburb of Daxing. Currently the site is around an hour's drive from the city centre, but planners are pencilling in an extension to Beijing's metro, and perhaps even a high-speed train line.

18.16 Metre Long Home-Made Chocolate Made For World Record 2012

Udhagamandalam: Measuring 18.16 metre in length and 0.75 metre wide, it has broken the record for world's largest chocolate bar.

In a bid to enter record books, a baker in this hilly tourist town of Tamil Nadu has produced a mega home-made milk chocolate measuring 18.16 metre in length and 0.75 metre wide.

NSP Supermarket's Fazloor Rahman, who made the chocolate, told reporters that the existing record is 14.87 metre long and 0.75 metre wide, which was created by a confectionary in Italy last year.

“We have already staked our claim for an entry in the Limca Book of Records and in the process for getting listed in Guiness Book of World records, is underway,” he said.

The chocolate, on display at Hotel Charing Cross since Saturday, was made of 400 kgs of ingredients, inlcuding cocoa and milk. It took three days to complete the task by ten persons, Rahman said.
