World's longest kiss for Valentine's Day 2011 set world record by Thailand.

Most couples kiss on Valentine's Day, but several couples in Thailand are determined to outdo them all: they are attempting to break the world record for the longest kiss.

The record attempt is being held in the Thai resort of Pattaya where 14 couples are trying to kiss more than 33 hours. They began on Sunday and - if they are successful - will end on Monday, Valentine's Day.

Only 30 minutes into the competition, however, one couple was disqualified after the woman fainted. Several other couples gave up after a few hours while others continued.

The current world record for the longest kiss was set by Matty Daley and Bobby Canciello in the United States last year, the first homosexual couple to break the record. They kissed for exactly 33 hours.

Before that, on Valentine's Day 2009, Nikola Matovic and Kristina Reinhart set the world record with a kiss lasting no less than 32 hours, 7 minutes and 14 seconds. The record was set in Germany.

Couples who want to set their own kissing record have to keep in mind that there are several rules. For example, the rules state that the kiss must be continuous and the lips must be touching at all times. Further, the couple must stand the entire time, cannot take breaks and cannot be propped together by any aids such as pillows or people.

Meiji Seika Kaisha, Ltd makes chocolate and other products and the billboard has been erected outside the factory to catch the eye of train passengers on the JR Tokaido Line and the Hankyu Kyoto Line.

The billboard measures 166m in width, is 28m high and consists of 43 plastic blocks that look like chocolate and also light up.

Meiji Seika Kaisha Ltd have applied to Guinness World Records for the billboard to be registered as the world’s biggest advertising board made of plastic.

Namiko Abe has written an article about Valentine's Day customs in Japan on About.Com and reports:

"In Japan, it is only the women who give presents (mainly chocolates) to men. Japanese women are usually too shy to express their love. (Though it might not be true nowadays.) Therefore, Valentine's Day was thought to be a great opportunity to let women express their feelings."

Japanese companies, such as Meiji Seika Kaisha Ltd , have fully capitalized on this to boost their sales. Chocolate companies in Japan sell more than half of their annual sales during the week before Valentine's Day.
Men are supposed to return the favor of a Valentine’s gift one month later on March 14, “White Day”. This day is unique to Japan and the most popular gifts are usually jewelry, flowers and soft animal toys.
Meiji Seika Kaisha, Ltd will light up the largest chocolate bar billboard in the world each night between Feb 11 and 14.

World's longest hockey game break Guinness world Record by Calgarians

World's longest hockey game, longest hockey game Guinness world Record, longest hockey game video, longest hockey game 2011, Calgarian Scott Shaw longest hockey game
Calgarian Scott Shaw is about to hit the ice in Edmonton for 10 straight days of hockey in an attempt to raise money for equipment in the battle against cancer.

Shaw is one of 40 players who'll be playing on an outdoor rink in Sherwood Park starting today with the goal of raising $1 million for a new Linear Accelerator used in radiation treatment.

The teams are also trying to break the Guiness Book of Records for the world's longest hockey game.

"I'm nervous and excited about it at the same time," said Shaw. "This is the fourth time we've done this, so I sort of know what I'm getting into - the main thing is to take care of your feet."

The 37-year-old was part of the last marathon hockey game in 2008, when the group raised almost $560,000 to help the Alberta Cancer Foundation purchase a confocal microscope for the Cross Cancer Institute.

Shaw lost his father to cancer in 1991 as well as an uncle and friend, and knows the impact the disease makes on families.

"I've been directly affected like everyone has," added Shaw. "Now I have a newborn in the family and would like to help find a cure."

Brent Saik is the captain of the idea, with the first face-off in 2003. Saik organized the games after his father and wife died from cancer.

"Everybody playing or helping out have all unfortunately been touched by cancer," noted Saik. "The biggest accomplishment of this game is to help get the Linear Accelerator."

Saik said the Linear Accelerator is the latest in radiation therapy treatment. He said other treatments kill healthy cells, but the Linear Accelerator only kills cancer cells.

According to Christy Soholt, Alberta Cancer Foundation communications and marketing associate, the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton will eventually have two of these units, and the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary will have one.

"This is a fabulous opportunity for us just to have someone so interested in raising money for the Alberta Cancer Foundation," said Soholt. "The awareness for us and the dollars for us is great."

The pucks drops for 39 men and one woman today and they'll play over 240 hours of non-stop hockey, until Feb. 21. The record they have to beat is their own, set in 2008.

Shaw is the lone Calgarian on the team and said the hockey is pretty good, even if it slows down in the wee hours of the morning.

World’s longest sand cricket bat on Orissa's Puri beach set Limca Book of Record

The fever of World Cup cricket has seen every where around the World. This time the cricket mania is more in India than other country because this year India also organized some matches.

The World Cup has caught everyone's imagination, from sand artists to sculptors and advertisers, who want to wish Team India good luck.

International sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik has crafted a 125-ft long cricket bat, a ball and a stadium on the Puri beach. Patnaik has also launched a "sandy" signature campaign to wish the willow-wielders good luck.

"The sand sculpture will be featured in the Limca Book of Records as the longest cricket bat in sand," said Patnaik with pride.

Fifteen students of Patnaik helped him to put the artwork together. The artist, who has in the past handcrafted mind-blowing sand images of Michael Jackson, Barack Obama, George Bush, Saddam Hussein and Santa Claus, has a long association with cricket. He was invited to England to prepare sand sculptures for the 2009 World Cup. Recently, he showcased a sand animation show to wish Team India in CEAT Cricket Award in Mumbai.

L Eswar Rao, a stone sculptor from Jatani, has created a miniature form of the World Cup on a pencil nib, probably the smallest world cup! The one centimetre long world cup is minutely crafted on the granite bar of a pencil with the help of a needle and a blade. Rao has also created a world cup which is about half an inch long with tamarind seed.

"Since I love cricket and I am a great fan of Sachin, I want to do something to cheer the Indian team. I don't know if my message will reach them but I sincerely wish the Cup should come to India. Moreover, it is the last World Cup of Sachin. So it must come to India," said 28-year-old Eswar.
