Longest and highest wire walk set World Record by Swiss stunt artist

Swiss stunt artist set World Record for cable car stunt on highest German peak

Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany - Swiss stunt artist Freddy Nock set a spectacular world record Saturday, by walking almost a kilometre along the cable that carries passengers up Germany's highest mountain.

He plans to submit his feat for entry in the Guinness Book of Records as the "longest and highest wire walk above sea level without a balancing pole".

Nock, 46, gained 348 metres in altitude as he walked - without a balancing pole or security harness - along the 50-millimetre-thick cable that transports the cable car to the top of the Zugspitze mountain, in southern Bavaria.

The gradient reached 57 degrees in places, almost equivalent to the angle between 12 o'clock and 2 o'clock on an analogue watch.

This feat enabled Nock to enter the Guinness Book of World Records.
