Largest Cardiopulmonary resuscitation training session set Guinness World Record

          Largest Cardiopulmonary resuscitation training session

6,577 participants plus the mission of one determined University equaled a new Largest CPR training session Guinness World Records record!

Anxiously waiting at the gates of Estadio Jalisco - home of the Mexican football team Leones Negros – people of wildly assorted ages from the general public began to enter the stadium at 9:00am local time to participate in the record attempt.

Guinness World Records adjudicator Danny Girton Jr. was present to assess the record attempt, coordinated by Universidad de Guadalajara Centro Universitario de Ciencias de la Salud (University of Guadalajara Central University of Health Sciences), and to recognize everyone’s extraordinary efforts, following the successful event outcome.

The one hour lesson included two parts: a theory section, led by qualified medical practitioners, which included University graduates; as well as a hands-on section, that allowed participants to apply the theoretical CPR techniques learned, on adult-sized and infant-sized mannequins.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) - is an emergency procedure for people in cardiac arrest or, in some circumstances, respiratory arrest.CPR is performed both in hospitals and in pre-hospital settings.

CPR involves physical interventions to create artificial circulation through rhythmic pressing on the patient's chest to manually pump blood through the heart, called chest compressions, and usually also involves the rescuer exhaling into the patient (or using a device to simulate this) to ventilate the lungs and pass oxygen in to the blood, called artificial respiration. Some protocols now downplay the importance of the artificial respirations, and focus on the chest compressions only (CCR).

largest display of hanging baskets set Guinness World Record - UAE

On Saturday 20 March I was in Al Ain in UAE to judge the Guinness World Records attempt at the largest display of hanging baskets. The event was organised by Akar Landscaping Services and Agriculture and involved the opening of a public garden called ‘Al Ain Paradise’.

In the morning I began the count with a team of engineers from Akar, and due to the good organisation of the garden and the Akar team, we had finished counting the large number of hanging baskets in only half an hour. As this was a new category, Guinness World Records had set a minimum of 150 baskets to open the category.

In the evening when the day had cooled down we prepared for the official opening, which the Sheikh was expected to attend. A carpet was laid out leading the way into the event area, and we waited for the Sheikh to arrive. I watched as a group including the Sheikh walked around the garden, and the ribbon was cut to officially mark the opening.

There then followed a few speeches by officials from Akar and Al Ain municipality and lastly I was called to the stage. After expressing my admiration of the work that must have gone into creating such a beautiful display in such a hot climate, I announced the result of our morning count. I had counted 2,426 hanging baskets, making Al Ain Paradise officially the largest display of hanging baskets in the world, a new Guinness World Records achievement.

Ryan Hart set Guinness World Record in Street Fighter IV European Championship

Ryan Hart Guinness World Record in Street Fighter IV European Championship

London, UK (29 March 2010) The Gamestation store in the Prospect Centre, Hull was the venue for a Guinness World Record this weekend.

On Saturday 27th March, the Official European Street Fighter IV Champion, Ryan Hart took on 169 challengers in 4 hours and beat every one of them, smashing the previous record by 61 for the record title Longest winning streak on Street Fighter IV.

The atmosphere in the store was tense; crowds came and watched as Ryan picked off his opponents one by one.
“It was like watching a machine in action! Ryan is a Terminator,” said Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday, who adjudicated the event. “One after the other, the challengers fell by the wayside as Ryan sat calmly, quietly knocking them off like a silent killer. His quickest victory – a Perfect finish – took just 7 seconds against a bewildered Chun-Li. The average survival time was about 12 seconds. It was a massacre in Hull.”

Tired out and relieved to have broken the record Ryan said “At one point I was really unsure whether or not I would beat the record but I just put my mind to the task and got on with it. It was a great result.”

The event was to celebrate the latest Guinness World Records2010: Gamers Edition which showcases all the gaming records set over the past year from the highest score on Donkey Kong to Guitar Hero Champions. The new record set on Saturday is now shortlisted for the next edition.
