A Tamil feature film got itself registered in the Guinness Book of World Records after it was completed in less than 12 days. Shooting and post-production of the two-hour film 'Shivappu Mazhai', was completed in a record 11 days, 23 hours and 45 minutes.

Describing the work as a big achievement film director V krishnamurthy said: "Shivappu Mazhai', a Tamil film, has been shot in 11 days 23 hours and 45 minutes. We have made a record. Prior to this, a British production company held the record, which was when they shot a film in 13 days in 1990. This took 12 days only."

Earlier, the record was held by 'The Fastest Forward', which was made by Russ Malkin and John Gore, in just 13 days in 1990. More than 600 technicians worked round the clock for making the film, which started in May 22 and was completed by June 3, 2009. Krishnamoorthy also said that the film is based on Sri Lankan Tamils.

"The film is based on Sri Lanka. The hero of the film, a doctor, works at a refugee service camp. He does not support any movement, he is offering his services to the war victims. His wife, who is also involved in the service, ... becomes a violence victim herself. This is out and out, a Sri Lankan Tamil's story," he said.

The film is due to release on January 14, 2010.

Largest Hot Chocolate world Record set by NYC

In celebration of its 55th birthday, East 60th Street’s Serendipity 3 -- home of the famous frozen hot chocolate – set a world record for Largest Cup of Hot Chocolate on Monday.

The cup used clocks in at four gallons, more than 100 times the size of the restaurant’s standard serving of hot chocolate. Stephen Bruce, S3’s owner/founder/Walt Disney lookalike mixed up the giant creation himself, with a little help from kitchen staffers, using the restaurant’s traditional hot chocolate mix, only in slightly larger quantities: 12 pounds of cocoa powder blended from 14 different cocoas, 8 quarts of heavy cream, and one pound of fine shaved French chocolate.

And yes, you can order it! The “Largest Cup of Hot Chocolate” is being added to S3’s regular menu, and anytime it’s ordered, proceeds will go to benefit NYC charities (no word on what the tab will run you, but if their regular cup of HC costs $6 and this one’s 100 times bigger, we’re going to go out on a limb and guess it’d be somewhere in the vicinity of $600). Which, p.s., would not be the most expensive item on the menu – that’d be the 23K edible-gold-leaf-laden Golden Opulence Sundae, officially the world’s most expensive sundae at $1000 (you’ll need to reserve 48 hours in advance for that one).

And speaking of numbers with lots of zeroes at the end, a highly unscientific calculation led us to estimate the metabolic impact of this oversized treat at 19,000 calories – before the whipped cream.

Mexico City residents lined up on Sunday for a piece of a massive traditional holiday sweet bread weighing over ten metric tons, a world- record-smashing size, according to city officials.

The massive pastry, a largest popular bread called the "rosca de reyes" that appears around the Three Kings holiday in Mexico, measures 720 meters long and used over 50,000 eggs and 2,900 kilos of sugar.

The national bakers' association has sponsored the creation of the huge " rosca" for the last three years in the capital.

Hundreds of residents crowded in lines for a piece of the behemoth treat, which completely wrapped the perimeter of Mexico City's large Zocalo plaza.

"It's a nice thing that we really appreciate," said resident Lucia Gonzalez after collecting several slices for herself and her family. "Many times people don't have enough to buy their own traditional sweet bread at home, so they can come here to enjoy a little piece," she added before noting that this year's record-setting "rosca" was tastier than last year's.

The most recent record belongs to Houston, Texas, with a "rosca" of 1,300 kilograms, said Ferrer Galvan of the city's Secretary of Economic Development two days before the event. No officials from Guinness World Records were present at the event to verify the claim.

The sweet bread took 21,000 man hours of labor and cost approximately 128, 000 US dollars to create.
