The vertical lines with spaces certainly have a pattern. Something like a barcode on a book. But these cannot be read by the electronic gadget in a mall.

Close an eye, slant the paper to a certain degree and watch. The lines and spaces suddenly metamorphose into legible and coherent sentences. Welcome to ‘Line Script’ invented and practised by Ch. Venkatachary, an interior designer.
Wielding his Rotring pen and using the drawing sheets, Venkatachary practised his art for the last eight years and managed to get into the Limca Book of records after he ‘line scripted’ Ramayana, Mahabharata, Quran and the biography of Dr. BR Ambedkar. Now it took more than three months for him to convert the biography of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy into a line script book.
Venkatachary, the resident of Lalaguda now plans to send across the book on Rajasekhara Reddy to his family members.

What made him invent and practise what could be a painful method of writing and reading? “I was inspired by the cursive writing style of Bapu. I had to create something without any clutter and yet surprise the reader,” he says.
Interior designer by profession, Venkatachary has line script writing prowess in eight different languages including Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi, Urdu, English, Hindi and Telugu.
“It takes years of hard work to master this type of writing. Since 80s, I have been practising and fine tuning this style,” he says. Venkatachary hopes to line-script the biographies of 100 great personalities of India. He plans to complete this mammoth project in the next three to four years.

A man in Tamil Nadu has carved a 3.5 tonne and 12-feet-high statue of the king of pop, Michael Jackson.

R Chandra Sekaran is into granite business and owns a granite firm in the city.

The demise of the world famous pop singer upset Sekaran and so he decided to pay tribute to Michael Jackson by doing something different and made a statue.
He aims to enter Limca Book of Records with this statue.

"We want to do something different in that, so we built a Michael Jackson statue in single black granite which weighs about 3.5 tonnes and we want to send the statue to Michael Jackson foundation. So we entered in India Book of Records and are going to enter Limca Book of Records," said Sekaran.
It took 45 days of conscientious effort round the clock by 6 highly experienced granite monument craftsmen to make this statue.

The Chennai-based granite firm spent a whopping 1.2 million in sculpting the statue.

World's First 3D Consumer Camcorder Panasonic - 3D Consumer Camcorder HDC-SDT750

Panasonic Corporation (NYSE:PC), an industry leader in Full HD 3D and HD TV technology, unveiled today the world's first 3D camcorder for consumers1. The HDC-SDT750 camcorder allows anyone to create powerful, true-to-life 3D images by simply attaching a 3D conversion lens that comes with the camcorder. Even without the 3D conversion lens, this innovative camcorder offers many ways to take home video recording to a new level with a wide range of sophisticated features. The camcorder will go on sale in Japan2 on August 20, to be followed in other countries in autumn of this year.'

At the vanguard of 3D technology
, this year Panasonic launched its Full HD 3D VIERA plasma TVs and 3D Blu-ray DiscTM players for homes as well as the world's first professional 3D camcorder. The development of a consumer camcorder capable of 3D recording is a natural next step for the company.

Incorporating Panasonic's broadcast technology, the advanced 3MOS System SDT750 camcorder lets users easily create their own 3D movies, something that previously only professional image producers had been able to do. Combined with a VIERA 3DTV3 and Blu-ray DiscTM player/recorder4, the SDT750 camcorder makes it possible to save precious memories of friends and family in vivid, lifelike 3D images, thereby further expanding the world of 3D enjoyment at home.

Even without the 3D conversion lens attached, there are many ways to enjoy the SDT750 camcorder. The 3MOS system with improved noise reduction (NR) technologies
records dimly lit images in greater beauty than ever before. Other sophisticated functions include 1080/60p for NTSC or 1080/50p for PAL recording (Full-HD 1,920 x 1,080, 60 or 50 progressive recording)5 for ultra-smooth images, iA (Intelligent Auto) mode5 in the new HYBRID O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilization/Optical Image Stabilizer
)5, and a wealth of manual functions controlled by a manual ring6 for easy, creative shooting.

The high-sensitivity 3MOS System provides an effective motion image pixel count of 7,590,000 pixels (2,530,000 pixels x 3). And even with this high pixel count, newly developed technology increases sensitivity, and further-evolved NR technology achieves bright images with minimal noise when shooting under low light conditions. This maximizes the 3MOS features of excellent color reproduction, high resolution and rich gradation, and lets the user capture vividly colored images in both bright and darkly lit places.

Recording in 1,080/60p for NTSC or 1,080/50p for PAL5, the SDT750 camcorder produces richly expressive images, with none of the detail loss and flickering of the conventional 1,080i (interlace) recording. In addition, the iA function, which was highly popular on previous models, makes it easy for anyone to take beautiful videos. The SDT750 camcorder also newly incorporates the HYBRID O.I.S. system5 to bring clear, beautiful HD image quality to telephoto shots as well.

The HDC-SDT750 will be available in October for a suggested retail price of $1,399.95.

World's most expensive hot dog set Guinness World Record 2010 - New York

Does the world's most expensive hot dog cut the mustard?

Frankly, yes, declared a woman who forked over $69 for the winning wiener Friday.

"It was great. Great flavor," said tourist Trudy Tant, 49, who played a key role in helping a Manhattan restaurant savor another Guinness World Record.

Tant, of Rock Hill, S.C., said she was outside Serendipity 3 on E. 60th St. Friday morning - National Hot Dog Day - when owner Stephen Bruce asked her to spend her dough on the pricey frankfurter.

The publishing company worker said she relished the opportunity "to do something out of the ordinary."

The haute dog, prepared by head chef Joe Calderone, comes with truffle oil, a salted pretzel bed, truffle butter, duck foie gras, Dijon mustard, Vidalia onions and ketchup.

Tant paid for the foot-long with Guinness World Records official Kimberly Patrick looking on.

The restaurant racked up the priciest dog record right away; there was no previous titleholder, Patrick said.

Bruce said he chose to set a hot dog record because the frank is as American as apple pie.

The restaurant also holds the record for the most expensive ice-cream sundae - at a rich $1,000 - and the largest hot chocolate at 4 gallons.

"It's fun. I always want something bigger and better," Bruce said. "Who knows what we're gonna create next time?"

Gaza children(Kids) set Guinness World Record for Dribbling Basketballs

Children from the Israel-besieged Gaza Strip have broken the world record for dribbling basketballs, a United Nations Relief and Work Agency (UNRWA) official said on Friday.

Adnan Abu Hasna, UNRWA's spokesperson in Gaza, said 7 203 children in summer camps supervised by the international organisation took part in the effort on Thursday.

They broke the previous world record for dribbling basketballs set in the state of Indiana in the United States in 2007, where 3 054 people dribbled all at once.

The UNRWA schoolchildren, aged between six and 15, all stood in carefully designed patterns comprising squares painted on the runway, and dribbled for 15 minutes.

"I believe that the Gaza Strip children managed to send two messages to the world. The first is that if those children are given the opportunity, they will be the first in the world," said Abu Hasna.

The second, he said, was that they drew attention to Gaza's isolation and Israeli blockade, by holding the event at the defunct Gaza Airport, destroyed by Israel.
Israel killed up to 1500 Palestinians, a third of them children and wounded more than 5000 Palestinians in the 22-day military aggression in December 2008 on Gaza.
"The event was very successful and the kids all received a complementary gift of one original basketball each," said Abu Hasna.

"We are all happy. We never dreamt of breaking world records," said Hanan, a 13-year-old Palestinian girl who participated in the event.

John Ging, chief of operations at UNRWA, told the children that "this event is just a message to everybody that you are brilliant kids and you are the world champions".

Worlds Largest Coffee Mosaic of Marilyn Monroe in Australia enters Guinness World Record

Worlds Largest Coffee Mosaic of Marilyn Monroe in Australia enters Guinness World Record

A team of 12 members have made a new world record by making world's largest coffee mosaic of Marilyn Monroe in Australia.

As thousands sipped lattes at The Rocks Aroma festival, a small team tried to break the Guinness world record.

Over four hours, a team of 12 filled 5200 cups with 680 litres of milk and 780 litres of coffee to varying levels to make the world's largest coffee mosaic of the screen siren at the Overseas Passenger Terminal Forecourt.
"It was such a great feeling," the Daily Telegraph quoted Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority's head of design Michael Donohue as saying.
Marilyn Monroe photo, Marilyn Monroe picture, Worlds Largest Coffee Mosaic of Marilyn Monroe, Guinness world record 2010, Rocks Aroma festival in Australia

"It took about three to four months to plan and the reaction from the crowd was really exciting," Donohue added.
Mr Donohue said the blonde bombshell was a natural choice after their 2009 record-breaking Mona Lisa montage.

Born as Norma Jean Mortensen on June 1, 1926 in Los Angeles, California, she died of a drug overdose again in the same city, on August 5, 1962. She has become a mythical icon like Elvis since then.

Even today quite a few female stars are compared with MM to underscore their beauty. The non-blonde Italian diva Sophia Loren earned the moniker "Italian Marilyn Monroe" thanks to her Marilyn-like sex appeal.

Monroe appeared in only 31 films but left behind dozens of unforgettable scenes starting with The Asphalt Jungle (1950). Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953), There's No Business Like Show Business (1954), and Monkey Business (1952) are some of her better known works.

But probably Monroe's reached the zenith of her career with the following 3 films: The Seven Year Itch (1955) (remember the skirts-up scene over the air grill?), Some Like It Hot (1959), and The Misfits (1961).

Never nominated for any Oscars, she is still more popular today and more a part of the popular culture than many actors who have won the prestigious prize.

Did you know these trivia facts about Marilyn Monroe?
Worlds Largest Coffee Mosaic of Marilyn Monroe in Australia, Stars Marilyn Monroe picture, Marilyn Monroe photo
1. In 1947 she won the Miss California Artichoke Queen beauty pageant.
2. She was on the cover of the Playboy magazine in 1953 and a Playboy Playmate for the December 1963 issue. Playboy owner Hugh Hefner purchased the vault right next to hers in order to be buried next to the one and only Marilyn.
3. She had a global reputation as a "blonde bombshell" but her natural hair color was brunette and (a good reader) she wore prescription glasses in private.
4. In a 1999 auction, her make-up kit brought a whopping $266,500.
5. For her first film Scudda Hoo! Scudda Hay! (1948) she was paid $75 a week. For the Misfits (1961), she was paid a very respectable $250,000.

More than 115,000 people turned out for the festival.

About Marilyn Monroe - Brief Biography

A phenomenon the likes of which comes only once or twice in a century, Marilyn Monroe has without a doubt defined what it means to be a "blonde" both during her short career and since her untimely sudden demise.

Radha Kant Bajpai - Longest ear hair in the world set world record

Radha Kant Bajpai - World's longest ear hair set world record

An Indian man is trying to break his own world record for having the longest ear hair.

Radha Kant Bajpai, 55, has the longest ear hair in the world, setting the Guinness world record in 2005 with his tufts of hair measuring 13.2 centimetres long.

But Bajpai has decided that enough is not enough and has announced he wants to break his own record.

Radha Kant Bajpai longest ear hair

"I used to think of Guinness world record but at that time my ear hair was only 5 to 6 centimetres long so I asked for advice from my relatives and some of my journalist friends who told me that if you grow your hair till 10 to 12 centimetres then you can apply for the records. So I achieved this measurement of 13.2 centimetres at the age of 50 and then I also achieved my record."

Relatives in Bajpai's home town of Kanpur city in India's northern state of Uttar Pradesh, say they're proud of his achievements.

"This is a great achievement. At first society used to taunt him and a few people even came and asked him why he was growing his ear hair. They said he wouldn't receive any record for this and he used to tell them that one day he would get some kind of result. Then by God's grace it was a record and the same people today say that he has really achieved something in his life," Shiv Shakti Pandey said.

Bajpai is meticulous when it comes to maintenance, and makes frequent visits to his local barber.

Chichi - oldest living dog in the world set world record 2010

Chichi - World's Oldest Dog chichi set world record 2010.

On Morton Street in the West Village lives a small poodle nearly the same color as the pavement upon which he takes his seven-times daily constitutional. He may very well be the oldest dog on the planet. But he may not live long enough to wear his crown.

According to a long string of people who have owned the little canine, he is at least 22 years old, possibly 24. The official holder of the title of oldest living dog, as recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records, is a mutt from Victoria, Australia, named Sako, born on Dec. 7, 1988 — a relative puppy at 21.

But last week, the West Village poodle fell ill with an as-yet-unidentified ailment, and the proof that he is in fact as old as his family believes may come too late.

He goes by Chichi, or Uncle Chichi, or the Cheech, though at this point what he is called is a bit of a non-issue: he’s almost entirely deaf. His vision is also obscured by cataracts. The loss of two senses, however, doesn’t seem to impede him from following his owner, Frank Pavich, 36, a television producer, or Mr. Pavich’s fiancée, Janet Puhalovic, 34, down Morton Street, where he stands out among the trendy French bulldogs.
World's Oldest Dog picture, recent Chichi photo, video, Current oldest dog in the world 2010, oldest living dog 2010 California, Guinness Book of World Records, oldest dog on the planet,
                           World's Oldest Dog chichi photo
As it grew clearer a few months ago that Chichi’s longevity might indeed be exceptional, Mr. Pavich, with some aid from this reporter, decided to look into getting him into the record book. The people at Guinness need several pieces of proof: documentation of Chichi’s age, or a veterinarian’s statement attesting to it, and pictures or videos that show him aging through the decades. These would then be reviewed by a Guinness board in London.

Mr. Pavich adopted Chichi in January 1996, when the human was 22 and the dog was perhaps 8 or 10. “His early life is shrouded in mystery,” said Mr. Pavich.

According to Celestine Lehmann-Haupt, a relative of Mr. Pavich’s whose mother, Laura Frost, was Chichi’s original owner, the dog was adopted from the John Ancrum Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, in Charleston, S.C., in the fall or winter of 1987 or 1988. Then, shelter employees estimated he was 1½ or 2 years old, she said in an e-mail message.

But the shelter shredded its old records when it moved three years ago, a spokeswoman said.

Similar verification hurdles arose further down the chronological chain. Chichi still has his tag (No. 2836) from Animal Medical West in Charleston, S.C. But Dr. Thomas Hentges, a veterinarian who has treated many tens of thousands of dogs since he began practicing in 1985, said he couldn’t recall the dog nor his then-owners. Dr. Hentges, too, has purged his records.

In 1992, when Mrs. Frost fell ill, Chichi was adopted by her granddaughter, Jane Maybank. (Ms. Maybank, who lives in Charleston, has dug through her grandmother’s old photos for pictures of the Cheech as a pup, to no avail.) She handed Chichi off to Mr. Pavich, who then lived in California, after the dog growled at her new baby.

In the late ’90s, Chichi developed cataracts, glaucoma and a corneal ulcer. At one point he required hourly eye drops around the clock. Mr. Pavich set an alarm and kept a checklist at his bedside to log every drop. “We’ve spent more than a college education on him,” he said. “When you love someone, you don’t care.”

Chichi’s vet in California, Kathleen Boldy, who first saw him in 1998, wrote in a letter to the Guinness Records committee that dogs tend to develop cataracts after the age of 8. His condition, she wrote, was consistent with the age his owners believed him to be.

Chichi is well traveled. Before arriving in New York in 2008, he accompanied Mr. Pavich on location around the country. In February this year, after rebounding from a mysterious illness, Chichi traveled with Mr. Pavich and Ms. Puhalovic to their native Croatia, where he posed for photos in front of monuments like the church of St. Donat in Zadar.

Most people fitting into a Mini Cooper Car set Guinness world Record

Local mum Fiona Munro (42) is desperate to write Perth's name into the Guinness Book of Records by fitting the most people ever into a Mini Cooper at an event on Saturday.

However, stringent rules surrounding the bid mean she has to find a certain model to be absolutely sure the attempt is accepted by the governing body.

Despite months of planning and searching she has still not tracked down an original Mini Cooper made between 1961 and 1969 or a replica of the original made between 1996 and 2000.
Most people fitting into a Mini Cooper Car photo, Mini Cooper Car picture, latest Mini Cooper Car, 22 people into the retro car, fit 21 people into the Mini Cooper car, Guinness world Record 2010
She needs to fit 22 people into the retro car to claim the wacky title and has been given access to a new car so the attempt will go ahead regardless.

"Hopefully by following all the other guidelines we will still be able to get the record but Guinness haven't been very forthcoming about that," Fiona said.

"It's a frustrating process dealing with them as they take a long time to reply to queries but we will go ahead as planned and hope for the best.

"But I'm still holding out hope that someone will be able to provide me with a proper model of car in the next week.

"I can pick it up and take it back and it is insured for the day. It doesn't even have to work, as long as it has all the internal fittings like seats, steering wheel and gear stick."

The record attempt is part of Fiona's Inspire event — an afternoon of challenges to motivate and energise young people, arranged as part of her recently completed college course.

There are activities for anyone aged from five to 21 on the plaza at Perth Concert Hall, like song and story writing, rapping and clothing design.

The Inspire event takes place from 1-5pm, with the record attempt at around 3.50pm.

Dr.John Williams-oldest fighter to ever set Guinness world record - Mixed Martial Arts fighter

Mixed Martial Arts fighter Dr.John Williams oldest fighter to ever set Guinness world record 2010.

To the amazement of many, Dr. John Williams, a 70-year-old Mixed Martial Arts fighter, has willingly scheduled himself to take on Larry Brubaker (age 49) as part of the “Wild Card” event for Elite 1 MMA Productions at the Casino New-Nouveau Brunswick in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, on July 24th.

Dr. Williams, a current Guinness world record holder, will attempt to break two new Guinness world records with the assistance from Mr. Brubaker, as the oldest fighter to ever compete inside of an MMA cage, as well as, the oldest combined age for any two fighters in the history of MMA.

All of this begs the question—is age really just a number?

Well, Dr. Williams certainly thinks so.

In researching Dr. Williams, I have quickly come to the realization that it is near impossible to condense this man’s entire life into a few simple paragraphs that will in any way do justice to his amazing and unique life experiences.

Nevertheless, I will try…

Dr. John J. Williams (a.k.a. Gray Wolf) was born on March 7th, 1940, in a small town in Eastern Canada. His parents were both French speaking Native American Indians of the Wabenaki tribal nation and he is the direct bloodline descendant of the Wabanaki War Chief, Madockaweando.

Dr. Williams began training in martial arts and boxing back in 1947 at the age of 7.

By the age of 16, Dr. Williams had already been introduced to Olympic-style weightlifting, Kodokan Judo, and Tani-Ha Jiu-Jitsu.

By the time he was 23-years-old, Dr. Williams was giving strongman demonstrations such as bending spikes, tearing phonebooks and licenses plates in half, and holding two jeeps from going in the opposite directions. His most impressive feat of strength however, was a one hand dead-lift with 500 pounds.

In later years, Dr. Williams also went on to study Taekwondo, Hapkido, and Kyokushinkai Karate.

As fate would have it, Dr. Williams eventually became the inheritor of Saigo Ha Daito-Ryu in 1972 after his master, Pok Shen, was diagnosed with lung cancer. Since there were no other senior students studying under Master Shen, Dr. Williams was asked to become the successor.

In 1987, Dr. Williams set his first Guinness world record for breaking multiple blocks of ice with a single punch (11 inches thick, by 22 inches wide, by 42 inches long, and 10 stacks high).

Fast forward 23-years later and amazingly, this record still stands today (although his son Tim is the only other man to tie the record).

Throughout his years of travelling and living in the USA, Dr. Williams participated in several university courses such as psychology, philosophy, hypnotism, and eventually, he became a legally ordained Baptist minister. He was later awarded a Doctorate in Theology and eventually taught as a professor at Holland College and Success College, as well as, the Julian College of Arts & Sciences.

In 1989, Dr. Williams completed a course in Hypnotherapy and he began treating clients for various ailments. By 1995, Dr. Williams had completed his course in EFT (based on Chinese acupuncture), which he combined with hypnotism to treat sexual assault victims.

In 1996, Dr. Williams was awarded a Doctorate in Linguistics from the Cyber College out of Japan for his work teaching the English language to Japanese high school students over the internet.

By the year 2000, Dr. Williams was acknowledged by the Canadian Court System as an expert on the Eastern Woodland Indians and their treaty rights.

Currently, Dr. Williams is the site coordinator for Elite 1 MMA Productions.

Top 10 Comedians 2010 - World's Most Powerful funniest Comedians

Top 10 Comedians 2010, 10 Funniest Comedians picture, list of the funniest comedians photos, Top 10 Best Stand-Up Comedians, 10 best man comedians, World's Most Powerful Comedians
Late last month, comedian Alex Horne announced that he is trying to set a world record: to be, one day, the oldest man in the world. He says: "I have been attempting this death-defying feat non-stop for the last 31 years and seven months and although I'm now getting tired, I am still confident that I can keep going." So what is it about comedians and records? Here's my very own top 10.

Longest Edinburgh gig: Mark Watson

King of the marathon-comics, Mark Watson holds the record for the longest-ever comedy gig performed at the Edinburgh fringe festival (36 hours), though he never registered in the official world record books. So buoyed was he by his marathon that he proposed to his wife on stage at the end (Fortunately, she said yes).

Punslinger: Tim Vine

In 2004, Tim Vine broke the Guinness world record for the most jokes told in an hour (449). Admittedly many were along the lines of "So I met this gangster who pulls up the back of people's pants; it was Weggie Kray", but quite a feat nonetheless. Vine beat the previous record for 362, but in May 2005 Aussie comic Anthony Lehmann beat them both with 549.

Keeping at it part one: Ken Dodd

Dodd earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records in the 1960s for the world's longest ever joke-telling session (reportedly 1,500 jokes in three and a half hours – that's 7.14 jokes per minute), in Liverpool. It's difficult to track down the set's contents, but the likelihood is that he deployed one of his favourite lines: "You think you can get away, but you can't, I'll follow you home and I'll shout jokes through your letterbox."

Keeping at it part two: John Martin

Bootle-born comic John Martin smashed the world record for continuous joke-telling in 1993, with an ear-splitting 101 hours and 39 minutes of solid, uninterrupted gags. He has the certificate on his website to prove it; he's popular on cruise ships, apparently.

In April 2009 the controversial Irish comedian completed 36 hours and 15 minutes of non-stop standup comedy, I Galway, setting the world record for the longest solo standup show. Nobody left. "Tell us a joke," heckled one audience member as he received his certificate. "How long have you got?" he replied.

Gervais entered the Guinness Book of World Records in 2006 for the most downloaded podcast – an average of 261,670 downloads per episode, right here on guardian.co.uk – for The Ricky Gervais Show. At the time, Gervais said: "Steve and Karl wanted to charge for the podcast. Just a pound, they said. I said no. We've had nearly 3m downloads so far."

Comedy duo Rob Newman and David Baddiel played the largest ever standup gig at Wembley arena in 1993 to 12,000 people. This was trumped in March 2010 by the "biggest live standup show in history" in front of a 20,00-strong O2 arena crowd – a Great Ormond Street bash featuring Alan Carr, Jonathan Ross, Bill Bailey, David Mitchell, Michael McIntyre and Omid Djalili. On the night, Ross joked he was going to break the record for getting the most people to shout the word "cunt" at the same time.

Fastest-selling: Michael McIntyre:

Of all the world records you'd expect serial news-maker Jimmy Carr to break, this somehow wasn't one. In 2007 he became the first comedian to perform in cyberspace with his Second Life show. Virtual punters were able to heckle him and his avatar form could respond. It could have been worse: "Got a phonecall today to do a gig at a fire station. Went along. Turned out it was a bloody hoax."

Most successful sports franchise in film history - Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren get Guinness Records

Actors Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren receive an award from the Guinness Book of World Records for creating the most successful sports franchise in film history with their movie 'Rocky' during a news conference for the upcoming Lionsgate motion picture 'The Expendables' at Comic Con in San Diego

Sylvester Stallone and the cast of The Expendables brought their "manly" approach to Comic-Con in San Diego.
Steve Austin, Terry Crews, Randy Couture and Dolph Lundgren appeared alongside Stallone, the film's writer, director and star.

On being intorduced, Crews, a former America footballer, unbuttoned his shirt and jiggled his biceps and abdominal muscles to impress watching fans.

The former football star described the film as "the manliest movie ever made" in which the actors did their own stunts and the fight scenes were real.

Austin broke Stallone's neck during one scene, sending the star to the hospital for surgery.

Lundgren, who sent Stallone into intensive care when they made Rocky IV together, said he was thrilled to work with the filmmaker again and be part of such a big, tough cast.

"It was a great experience for me," he said, "one that only comes along once in your career."

Bruce Willis popped by unannounced to thank Stallone for casting him in a cameo role in the film. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger also makes an appearance in the movie.

Near the end of the presentation, a representative from the Guinness Book of World Records announced that Stallone and Lundgren would be honoured for creating the most successful sports film franchise ever - the Rocky movies.

Stallone said he had planned to retire after concluding his Rocky franchise with 2006's Rocky Balboa.

But after the success of that film, and Rambo, which followed, he said he "got greedy again" and wrote The Expendables, which opens next month.

Comic-Con continues until Sunday at the San Diego Convention Center.

New Saw 3D horror movie - Saw horror movie franchise get Guinness World Records 2010

The Saw horror movie franchise is getting a place in the Guinness World Records as the most successful horror movie series, says one of the film's producers, Mark Burg.

"I'm still in shock," Burg said. "The fact that we beat out [such horror franchises as] Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween and Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a testament to our cast, crew and our partners at Lionsgate."

The franchise consists of six movies, each one coming out consecutively every Halloween since 2004. The seventh, and final, instalment is due out October 29 (in the US) and will be featured in 3D.

Collectively, the Saw films have made more than $US730 million ($820 million) at the worldwide box-office and sold more than 30 million DVDs, according to distributors Lionsgate.

The films centre around a killer named Jigsaw who puts his victims through psychological torture before killing them.

Burg said it was during the production of Saw 2, that the producers decided to "etch out" one long story spanning seven films. Therefore, after the seventh movie, called Saw 3D, there will be no other movies, including spin-offs or prequels.

"We are done; this is it," he said. "We don't want to be that boxer who fought one too many fights."

Burg said the seventh chapter was always "anticipated" by fans as the final one.

"In every Saw movie, we left questions open and in this movie we answer every question the audience has ever had," Burg said, adding that even new viewers will be able to follow and "get caught up to speed".

The Guinness presentation will take place at San Diego's Comic Con convention on Friday. London-based Guinness editor-in-chief Craig Glenday will be on hand to present the award to the film's producers.

Longest eclipse ever observed by civilians chasing the moon in an airplane

Eclipse hunters set a new record on July 11 for the longest eclipse ever observed by civilians chasing the moon in an airplane. While hundreds of eclipse enthusiasts flocked to islands in the South Pacific to watch the moon blot out the sun, astronomer Glenn Schneider and colleagues climbed to 39,000 feet to spend 9 minutes, 23 seconds in the moon’s shadow.

“We cheated Mother Nature by two minutes beyond what she could normally produce,” Schneider said.

Theoretically, the longest total solar eclipse that can be viewed from the ground is 7 minutes, 32 seconds long, a limit set by the geometry of celestial mechanics. Total solar eclipses happen when the new moon passes in front of the sun, casting a round shadow on the Earth that turns day to night. During the few minutes when the moon is directly in front of the sun, called totality, viewers get a rare glimpse of the solar corona, tendrils of gas that dance around the sun’s outer atmosphere. Although a solar eclipse is visible from somewhere on Earth every 16 months or so, totality is only ever visible from a narrow swatch of the planet.

                                                          Longest eclipse ever picture

The geometry of the July 11 eclipse worked out such that, by chasing the moon’s shadow at Mach 0.8, Schneider and his colleagues could stretch totality to from about 5 minutes to nearly 9 and a half minutes.

“It’s something we’re never going to be able to do again,” Schneider said. “It was an opportunity we just couldn’t pass up.”

The plane also provided “weather insurance,” Schneider said. The path of totality for the eclipse crossed the Pacific Ocean, grazing the Cook Islands, Easter Island, parts of French Polynesia and the southern tip of South America. Although there were clear skies for the actual event, the region’s annual weather records suggested that the odds of clouds blocking the eclipse were no better than 50/50, even from the best land-based viewing spots. Getting above the clouds guaranteed a clear view, plus superb shots of the corona contrasted against a dark sky.

Schneider’s flight took off from Faa’a International Airport on the island of Tahiti at 5:45 a.m. local time. On board were eclipse chasers Rick Brown and John Beattie, NASA eclipse predictor Fred Espenak, about 30 paying passengers who contacted Brown through the website eclipse-chasers.com, and four officials from the Tahitian government.

The group flew in a specially configured jet aircraft from Skytraders Antarctic Solutions, an aviation company that ferries scientists and equipment from Australia to Antarctica. The crew removed all the seats from the left side of the plane to give an unobstructed view from the sun-facing windows.

A few minutes before totality, the plane turned to face the approaching lunar shadow head-on. Schneider and his colleagues watched the shadow zoom toward the plane from a hundred miles away, engulfing the clouds below in darkness.

“It looked like the end of the world, this black shadow coming at us,” said Brown, who is a commodity trader by profession but has been organizing group eclipse viewings since 1991. “It was very, very surreal.” As the shadow came closer, the observers could see daylight at its far edge, like a miniature sunrise in the middle of the day.
The plane made a right-angle turn to intercept the moon’s shadow at about 9:15 a.m. At the moment of totality, the plane fell quiet.

“Normally on the ground there’s a lot of screaming, oohing and aahing, and a lot of noise going on, but for some reason it was very quiet in the plane,” Brown said. “People were astounded.”

The plane flew along with the shadow at 500 miles per hour, about a third of the shadow’s speed across the Earth’s surface. At that speed, the time in totality stretched from the 5 minutes, 20 seconds visible from the ground to 9 minutes, 23 seconds. It was the longest totality ever observed from a non-experimental and non-military aircraft. Brown said the team is submitting a DVD to the Guinness Book of World Records.

The longest totality ever observed by an experimental aircraft was 74 minutes, captured by a supersonic Concorde aircraft in 1973. Schneider’s first attempt to beat celestial geometry would have come close to that. For the June 2001 eclipse, he made plans to fly in the moon’s shadow for over an hour in an Air France Concorde plane. But just days before the final planning meeting with the airline, Air France Flight 4590 crashed in Gonesse, France, killing all 109 people on board and four people on the ground. All Concordes were grounded a few days later.

“That was the end of that plan,” Schneider said. “Since then, it was always in the back of my head: When can I do something like that again?”

The July 11 eclipse was the fourth eclipse Schneider observed from the air. Since his first total solar eclipse as a 14-year-old in North Carolina in 1970, Schneider has chased 29 eclipses from Australia to Zambia, catching a few minutes of eerie darkness from land, air and sea. He boasts that he has lost just 3.7 eclipses to clouds. That 0.7 was from partly cloudy skies over Wuhan, China on July 22, 2009, which blocked his view of the longest total solar eclipse visible from the ground for more than a century. Of what should have been 5 minutes, 40 seconds of totality, Schneider caught just a minute and a half.

Hatice Kocaman - Turkish Woman Claims to be Worlds Smallest Person Guinness world Record 2010.

Guinness World Records officials have come to Turkey to evaluate a woman’s claim to be the world’s smallest person – an assertion that could make the country home to both the tallest and smallest record holders.

Record adjudicator Kelly Garrett traveled to the Kadirli district of the Mediterranean province of Osmaniye after hearing about Turkish newspapers’ reports on local resident Hatice Kocaman, 21, who is just 72.5 centimeters tall and weighs only seven kilograms.

Garrett and Emin Görgün, the Turkey brand manager for Guinness World Records, visited Kocaman and her parents, İbrahim and Hatun Kocaman, initiating the process of registering her claim.

Görgün said many applications are made to Guinness World Records and that they are all evaluated carefully.

The “world’s smallest person” record previously belonged to He Pingping from China, who was 74.61 centimeters tall when he died in March at the age of 21. Before his death, he appeared at events in Turkey with Sultan Köse, the Turkish man who is the tallest person in the world at two meters, 46.5 centimeters tall.

Kocaman, who cannot grow further due to a bone disorder, said it would be great to be in Guinness World Records and that she wants everyone to know her and talk about her.

Kadirli district official Orhan Aktürk, who hosted the Guinness officials, said he supports Kocaman and her family.

Non-stop playing game set Guinness World Record 2010 by Dutch gamers

On Friday, six Dutch gamers broke the Guinness World Book for Records for non-stop gaming, playing Red Dead Redemption for a whopping 50 hours straight on a Sony PlayStation 3.

Reports say they could have kept going, but unanimously decided that they had had enough.

The 50-hour marathon blows away the previous record set last September by Chirantan Patnaik from India with an impressive continuous playing time of 40 hours and 20 minutes.

The team of six champion gamers included Edward and Maykel Leest, Hengelo Sven de Vries, Renzo Bos, Robbie van Eijkeren and Marcel van Waardenburg. The award was given out by an official Guinness representative who was flown in from London especially for the occasion.

World’s youngest singer Nepalese girl Atithi K.C set Guinness World Record

Atithi Gautam KC, a three-year-old girl from Kathmandu, has cut a solo album of nine Nepali songs, including the country's national anthem, and has set her sights on entering the Guinness Book of World Records.

Atithi recently gave a live performance, singing three songs from her album.

Orbit Publishers, Atithi's father's company and Ambar Gurung, a Nepalese musician, released the album.

Her elder sister Usna, and her father, Uddhav, who is a Nepali folk singer, accompanied her at the ceremony.

Although her age did not deter Atithi from cutting the solo album, the composer said it was difficult to work with the child on account of her age.

"There is a vast difference in working with a professional singer and a child singer. It was really difficult to work with Atithi, too," said Shyam Sharma, who composed the music for Atithi's album.

World's Highest Mileage Car 2010 - Volvo P1800

Record-breaking automotive pioneer Irv Gordon turns 70 today. And to celebrate, the driver of the highest mileage vehicle on the road, a 1966 Volvo P1800, he aims to reach the unmatchable record of 3 millions miles sometime in the next three years!

In 1998 he made the Guinness Book of World Records for most miles driven by a single owner in a non-commercial vehicle as his red Volvo reached 1.69 million miles. Then in March 2002, he drove the car’s two-millionth mile down Times Square to national and international media attention. A few days later, car enthusiast Jay Leno invited the Two Million Mile Man to his Tonight Show along with the record-breaking Volvo – in the studio in front of the audience!

In October 2007, Irv had driven his Volvo coupe over 2.6 million miles. Three years later, the mileage is well over 2.8 million miles. Mathematically reaching three million miles before his 73rd birthday makes sense! He could become the Three Million Mile Man!

True P1800 diehard Gordon, a retired science teacher from East Patchogue, N.Y., purchased his Volvo from a neighborhood dealership in June 1966 for $4,150. He immediately fell in love with it and drove 1500 miles in the first 48 hours.

With a 125-mile round-trip daily commute, a fanatical dedication to vehicle maintenance and a passion for driving, Gordon logged 500,000 miles in 10 years. Today, he breaks his own record every time he drives, whether it’s to Cincinnati for coffee, Rolla, Mo., for lunch or Green River, Wyo., for dinner.

Gordon – like any mighty record-holder at the top of his game – is mindful of his legacy, as well as setting a record no one can beat. He gets his kicks driving his Volvo on Route 66 and just about every other picturesque highway in the US. He visited Canada and Mexico. In 2007, he said that to reach his next milestone, he was allowing himself a more conservative pace of 80,000 miles per year... on doctor's orders.
